Grade 1 & 2

Term 1 - Week 8

Our first term of 2025 is quickly coming to an end but we have certainly worked hard and learnt a lot throughout, in our Grade One and Two Learning Space.

Several weeks ago we all began our Lenten journey, an amazing time to reflect on our lives, to respond to Jesus’ call to love our neighbour, and to be ready for the great mysteries of the Easter season. Pope Francis, thankfully over the worst of his illness, writes about the basic Gospel message. "Jesus Christ loves you, came to save you, and lives by our side now as we respond to that love." As our Religion topic is about ‘Relationships’, during Lent we are trying to work on ‘relationships’ and friendships.

These relationships begin in our homes and continue in school, the community and in our world. During this time of Lent we are learning how we can help others by ‘Praying’, ‘Fasting’ and ‘Giving’ and living in ‘Right Relationship’ with each other.

Again, asking the question, ‘Who are the people that make our community?’, we were blessed to have several guest speakers to share their role in the community and how they help us. A big thank you to Mons Glynn (our parish priest) and Mrs Amy Brown (Paramedic) who came to share their roles and expertise. The children loved hearing about Mons Glynn’s work as a priest in the army, showing his army bag and hat, and loved hearing about the work of Paramedics and having the ambulance come to our school and having rides on the stretcher. We look forward to Mr Ian Campbell (surgeon) and a member from the Police Force who will also come next week to speak to our children about how they help people in the community.

Best wishes to everyone during the rest of the term, which will continue to be busy with Wheelie Wednesday and the Whole School Athletics Day coming up next week. Wishing you all happy and safe holidays and a wonderful and blessed Easter.
