Visual Arts

The annual Top Arts exhibition has just opened at the NGV Ian Potter Centre. This exhibition provides VCE Arts students from across the state a stage to showcase their art work. Artworks undergo a selection process that takes a few months to complete. Students must apply online with their teacher's permission, forms filled & submit artworks to the VCAA for deliberation. It can be a long wait to find out if you have been successfully chosen for the exhibition.

I am very proud to share that, an ex Croydon Hills PS student and Art Captain, Arielle Humphreys, was successful in this process! Her 2 large graphite drawings hang in the portrait section of Top Arts 2025 Exhibition.

Arielle’s art works are of her grandma and sister, exploring themes of faith, importance of family, people of inspiration as well as hyperrealism techniques. Ari’s use of graphite to create a gradual buildup of light and dark tones has been beautifully executed and she has a very interesting sense and play with perspective which keeps the viewer looking.

If you would like to see Arielle’s art work, it is now on display at the Ian Potter Centre, Federation Square till 20th July and is a free exhibition.

Congratulations Arielle. We are so proud of your achievements and cannot wait to see where you go to from here.

Lost Property

Can you help us?  Please read below:

Every week we regularly check, sort and return as much lost property items as we can, however we still have many school uniforms, water bottles, lunch containers and much more in our lost property cupboard we are unable to return to your children.

As shown in the attached pictures some names are either of past students, hand me downs or are not clearly labelled.  We would love every week to be able to return EVERY item back to its family/student.

As it is nearly the end of First Term, we would like to ask all parents to:

  1. Please check that all school uniforms, hats, drink bottles, lunch containers, sports items etc for your children are clearly labelled with your child’s SURNAME and first name/initial.
  2. Check the lost property cupboard for any missing items owned by your child - The lost property cupboard is located at the end of the corridor near the main office or accessed via the corridor between the junior and senior school.

As we are unable to hold so many items in the lost property cupboard, at the end of every term we have to sell off all unclaimed school items for a Gold coin donation to the school and donate all non-branded items to charity.

On Monday 31st March from 3pm till Friday 4th April 9.30am we will be placing all items for sale outside the front office for families to donate a gold coin donation per item.

If you have any queries, please reach out to myself or Fiona.  We hope term 2 brings less missing items.

Thank you

Fiona & Meagan
