Mathematics -

Recently, Kindergarten students have been learning about all things numbers. Students have been getting to know the value of numbers to 20 and beyond and have tasked with learning how to count, order, read, make and write numbers to 20. Here is some of the very clever counting work from Kindergarten students.

Here students had to make a number line to 10 using our Numicon bricks. Then they were asked to find 5 and make 5 using counters.

Here, students needed to choose a number to make, write and represent using numicon bricks. Students really challenged themselves and it was great to see their efforts.

Stage 2 -Miss Meg Humphrey

Welcome to Week 9 of Term 1! What a fantastic term we have had so far. I am so proud to see how far every student in Stage 2 has come.  It can be a huge transition from Stage 1 to 2, and all of the year 3s have made such an effort, and this should be celebrated.

English

During the last few weeks of this term, we have been working to develop our understanding of the writing process. Each student has been working alongside myself and the other support teachers to create an engaging narrative. We have learnt all about what is needed to make a successful narrative, and what is included in each aspect of their stories. We cannot wait to share our stories with you!

Maths

Last week we started a new unit and have been building our understanding of the different strategies we can use to solve addition problems. So far we have looked at using algorithms, number lines, and bridging to the decade. I know I have had fun with all the different games and learning opportunities we have been able to partake in this week!
