Principal`s Message

At Fitzroy Primary School, we take immense pride in our strong sense of community, where relationships between staff, students, and families are at the heart of everything we do. Our school is more than just a place of learning; it is a vibrant, nurturing environment where every individual is valued and supported.
The weather smiled on us for our Iftar dinner, creating a memorable night that was thoroughly enjoyed by all members of the community. It was heartwarming to see everyone come together to share in this special occasion.
As we close the term, we are delighted to welcome Jennah to Fitzroy. Jennah is replacing Lorene in 3/4C who will be taking up a position at Melbourne Girl's College. I would like to thank Lorene for her hard work and dedication to her students during her time at Fitzroy Primary School. We are also saying farewell to Hannah (Education Support) who is leaving FPS to complete her teaching studies. It has been an absolute pleasure to introduce fresh faces this term who bring not only a passion for education but also an enthusiasm that aligns beautifully with our school's values and culture.
We know that our families and students form strong bonds with our teachers and support staff, and we are pleased to share that our newest team members already feel like part of the Fitzroy family. Their dedication and commitment to student learning and wellbeing have been evident from the outset, and we are truly fortunate to have them making a positive impact in our classrooms and beyond.
Our 3/4 students had the incredible opportunity to attend a performance of "Beauty and the Beast," thanks to the generous ticket donation from the Smith Family. The students were captivated by the show and it was a truly magical experience for them.
On Thursday 3rd April we held our Parent/Carer/Teacher interviews. This year we decided to hold them at the end of the term to allow staff time to develop a deeper understanding of your child's progress. It was a fantastic turnout with around 92% of parents attending. This is a significant improvement on last year when 38% of parents attended interviews in term 1. Meeting and interacting with students and families on the day was a pleasure. Our staff approached the interviews with enthusiasm and dedication, keeping the best interests of our students at the forefront of everything we do.
These Interviews provide a platform for us as a school to inform parents/carers about your child’s progress and offer us a unique opportunity to learn from you about your child’s individual needs and strengths. They also serve to:
• Establish connections between school and home
• Identify early challenges or concerns
• Set clear academic and behavioural expectations
• Celebrate progress
• Strengthen Partnerships
Thank you for taking the time to attend. Your commitment to being involved in your child’s education makes a difference. It was great to see the collaborative spirit between parents and teachers, all focused on supporting our students' growth and development.
As we approach the holiday break, I want to wish all students and staff a happy, safe, and restful holiday. Enjoy this time with your loved ones and come back refreshed and ready for the new term.
