Literacy

Students have been introduced to the inquiry topic of the First Fleet in relation to the history of immigration to Australia in the 1700’s. We are researching what the First Fleet is and what life was like in England and Australia during this time. We have also started a new literacy model which incorporates a whole class spelling focus, comprehension and application and more! Students have their own white boards and complete tasks as

 directed - ask them about it! In writing students have been preparing to write information reports. An important part of writing and information report is planning, researching and note taking.

Numeracy

Our focus has been on fractions in mathematics. Students have been learning about proper fractions, fractions in a collection and in shapes and objects. Students have displayed knowledge of fractions on a number line and using decimals! It is great as a teacher hearing the 'ah ha' moments that this learning to achieving - keep up the great work grade 5/6!

 

 

Incursion

Tuesday we all were invited over to the high school for their open day. We were treated to a walk through by current students - informing us of the great curriculum and programs on offer at the school. We are also treated to sausages and water and to music! We look forward to attending their school again later in the year to be a part of their Science week!

Students have been learning to display sportsmanship through games and videos. Students have been guided to understand empathetic choices and actions in relation to sportsmanship. They have been learning to respect officials, support team mates and fair play.
