Welcome to Term 2. We have many exciting things happening this term in Grade 3/4.
Literacy
During Literacy we have learned a new way to read and read and write words with similar phonemes. We have read, traced, made the sounds on our phoneme fist, and recorded the letters on mini whiteboards.
Numeracy
During Numeracy, we have reviewed place value. We can identify the value of each digit and we can rename and expanding numbers in place value.
Inquiry - Gold Rush
This term we will be investigating the events that occured during the Gold Rush. We will be attending an excursion to Sovereign Hill. Please check compass for payment and consent.
School start
School begins at 8:35am sharp. Students will begin their learning by participating in the Morning Circle. If you child is late to school, please make sure they attend the front office to have their attendance recorded as late.
Melbourne Victory - School of Football
Don't forget to check compass to make the payment for the Melbourne Victory sessions in term 2.
Homework/Home Reading
Homework will resume for shortly for term 2. It will be given out weekly on Mondays and come back to school on Fridays. Homework includes 1 sheet for 4 activities that support in class learning from the week, and either 1x thick chapter book, 2x shorter chapter books or 3x levelled books.
Tutoring Learning Program - Homework
Students in the Tutoring Learning Initiative (TLI) program with Ms Pino will receive homework on Fridays to be returned on Thursday of the next week. Homework will include 2 books that we have read and an activity sheet supporting the phonics work completed in the lesson. The students also have a reading log to record when they have read the books by themselves and to a parent or older sibling.
School Values Certificates/Whole School Assembly
The teachers are very excited to announce our award winners for our school values. Please join our whole school assembly on Friday to celebrate this weeks recipients.
