On Wednesday morning the entire school gathered in the hall to walk the steps of Jesus as we remembered the events of Holy Week. Our junior children in LS1 commenced the re-enactment by entering the hall waving palm branches as the hymn Here Comes Jesus Riding into Town was played and sung.

This was followed by our Juniors in LS2 reminding us that Jesus was a leader who served others and wants us to do the same. Jesus washed the feet of his apostles. Our young juniors dramatisation, reminded us of this act of kindness and compassion.

Learning Space 3 Juniors broke the bread and shared the wine as Jesus did at the Last Supper. "This is my Body and This is my Blood," said Jesus, "Do this in Memory of me." Our juniors were very reverent as they walked in the footsteps of Jesus.

Our seniors in LS1 then depicted the stations of the cross in a very moving way. The children took an active role in telling us about the events that occurred as Jesus was condemned to death and crucified.

 

The senior choir then concluded the prayer service singing the hymn, "Were You There When they Crucified by Lord."

 

 

The service ended with all of us leaving the hall thinking about what Jesus did for us. On Thursday 24 April at 2:30pm the school will gathered in the hall to complete the Holy Week events as we celebrate with joy the triumphant Resurrection of Jesus and the hope that is given to each of us. Parents are invited to join us.

 

We wish all our families a very happy and Holy Easter with your families. Enjoy a great Easter Holiday. We look forward to an exciting Term 2 together commencing on Tuesday 22 April. Please note that this is a short week as Friday 25th April is a public holiday for ANZAC day and Monday 28th April the school is closed for a time in Lieu day for staff. 

 

A Colour Explosion plus Slime to complete Term 1!

On an April morning, we were all bathed in a gentle sunshine as we clung to the last gasp of summer. It was just perfect for the running of our Cross Country event, colour explosion and the sliming. See the Teaching and Learning page for all the photos and details of the cross country results as children from each age group and year levels completed. 

 

 

After a BIG effort of racing it was time for a celebration. A 'Colour Explosion' is a sensational way to celebrate our efforts at racing, fund raising and working hard to get the school year off to a flying start. This year's P&F led by Sabrina have out done themselves with a spectacular  inflatable finish line at our Colour Run which created a wonderful background to the colorful and excitement of the event for our students.

 

There was colour everywhere as the children dodged and weaved to ensure they were covered from head to toe with the colours of the rainbow. The joy on their faces made all the work and organisation put into this event worth every minute. A huge thanks to all who have sponsored a child to help raise funds for our school. A massive thank you to our P&F who have finished the term in a Kaleidoscope of colour and joy. You are all STARS!!

 

If an Explosion of COLOUR was not enough there was more!! After all the presentations to the race winners there was certainly great excitement that reached a crescendo with the ultimate trill of sliming some of our courageous teachers and a very brave Principal!!

 

Now I thought this may not happen as we had to get to our target and it was looking a bit shaky earlier in the week. However our troops rallied and the funds came rolling in. A massive thank you. However maybe I should not be soooo Happy!! Yes, That meant I too got slimed for a worthy cause. There was a count down 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 and then a very rapid deluge of cold, gluggy, sticky, gooey, green slime was faced in quick succession. It came from all directions as the winners who raised the most money got to do the sliming. It was an exciting finish to the term for the whole school. Well dome P&F, well done teachers, well done students and a MASSIVE well done to our St Francis de Sales Community.

Elections and Our Working Bee

As a result of the recent announcement that the elections will be held on Saturday 3rd May, we have had to change the date for our first Working Bee for 2025!!

The Working Bee will be held on Saturday 24th May 2025

 

St Francis de Sales is also going to be a Polling Site on the 3rd May.
