2026 Medications at School

Ensuring the ongoing safety, health and wellbeing of all students here at St Pat's Primary  is of paramount importance to us. If any of your children who attend our school have a medical condition requiring an associated management plan, we require a current copy of this plan to be provided to our school. To help us provide the best possible medical care we ask that you submit any relevant medical action plans, along with medication, to our school office on the first day of the new school year. Please don't drop it and run as you may be asked to sign a Medical Consent Form to provide us with consent to administer medication as required. You are also required to upload a copy to their Medical Profile in PAM. This will ensure we have up to date medical information for your child/ren. Where your child/ren have a medical condition but no standard Action Plan is available, please provide written information from a Health Care Professional detailing the appropriate management or treatment required. This includes Panadol, Nurofen, pharmacy only medications (including zyrtec, claratyne, allergy eye drops) or other non-prescribed medications.

This is line with DOBCEL’s First Aid and Infection Control Policy:

Non-Prescribed: School staff are not permitted to store or administer any non-prescribed medications including analgesics (paracetamol and aspirin). This is because analgesics and other non-prescribed medications can mask signs and symptoms of a serious illness or injury.

As a result of this policy; medications will only be allowed on school property with a document signed by your doctor. This could include an action plan, letter or treatment plan. We thank you in advance for your support keeping all of our children safe. Please note that in January you will also be required to update your child’s medical details in PAM prior to them commencing the school year.
