Around The School

Juniors Farm Excursion

On Wednesday and Thursday the Junior classes were lucky enough to visit the Grammar Farm in Mount Rowan as part of our Design and Technology unit on 'Where Does Food Come From?'

We explored the vegetable gardens, saw farm animals including chickens, sheep and pigs and walked through the hot house and Indigenous garden.  It was wonderful to see where food starts out before it gets to the supermarket.

A big thank you to Mike and Mr Ford from Ballarat Grammar School for facilitating our visit and to all the parent helpers who came along.

Healthy Living

Every family would be familiar with this little sign from Healthy Living this term. The children from foundation to year 6 have all enjoyed making their natures window and learning about slowing down to take the beauty of nature. Being outside has so many benefits for our students.

When children play outside, they naturally experiment, problem-solve, and think creatively. Climbing, building, exploring nature, and inventing games allow them to test ideas, take safe risks, and come up with new solutions. These are the foundations of innovation. Outdoor play also supports focus, resilience, and confidence—skills that help children become curious thinkers who are willing to try new things. Encouraging regular time outdoors gives children the space to imagine, create, and innovate.

Happy Holiday to all the families.

Kind regards Mrs Delaney

Indonesian Ambassador Term 4.

During the last 6 weeks of Term 4, the Junior school have been working with our Indonesian ambassador, Afif. This fantastic experience has been run through the Australian Government funded program called ILLA (Indonesian Language Learning Ambassadors).

Afif has been teaching the students how to make traditional hats (Topi Malayu) as well as a traditional dance called ‘Yamko Rambe Yamko’ from the Papua region of Indonesia.

Junior students have loved learning about Afif’s Indonesian culture!

Your junior child may like to show you their dance so here are the links to the dance and the song that the they learned with Afif.
