Learning News
We are delighted to share the exciting, cross-curricular learning that has been taking place across the school through our integrated units, which currently centre on Global and Environmental Awareness. Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 have been actively investigating important themes like 'Habitats and Survival' and 'Global Connections,' bringing together concepts from Geography, Science, Creative Arts and PDHPE.
Additionally, the festive spirit has led to a magnificent collaborative Christmas artwork, expertly organised by Miss Rasche, where each student created a light bulb for the collective string which now glitters in the sunlight under the COLA. This focus on community and collective contribution reinforces a positive learning environment.

🎄 K/1Fun 🎄
The past fortnight has been a wonderfully busy and festive time for our K/1 students! We've been immersed in the spirit of the season, enjoying some creative Christmas crafts and art. Students have also engaged in hands-on mathematical learning, exploring volume and 3D objects, getting a feel for how shapes take up space. Furthermore, we've focused on essential literacy development, diligently working on sharpening our writing skills through various engaging activities and prompts. It's been a great blend of festive fun, key mathematical concepts and important skill-building!

Year 1
Last fortnight, Year 1 has created stunning Aboriginal-inspired Christmas Wreaths! Students brought in natural leaves collected from their home environments, and we learned how to decorate them using different Aboriginal symbols to tell a story. These unique leaves were then used to construct beautiful wreaths, which are now proudly displayed in our classroom. This project was a wonderful way to connect our learning about culture, nature and art during the festive season.
Year 2
This past fortnight, our Year 2 students have been immersed in exciting descriptive writing activities! We started our unit by reading the classic story, 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'. This provided a fantastic opportunity to explore how authors use vibrant language to paint pictures in the reader's mind. The students then completed a creative task where they decorated a picture of the Grinch and brainstormed an incredible array of adjectives and descriptive phrases to capture his grumpy nature, noting his 'sour' expression, 'slimy' heart, and 'long, spindly fingers'. This preparation led to our main writing task: imagining and explaining 'How to Make the Grinch Smile.' The students wrote wonderful paragraphs, carefully choosing powerful words to describe their ideas. Great job Year 2!

Year 3/4
Over the last two weeks, Year 3 & 4 have been putting to good use their incredible Drama skills to create props and perform well known Fairy Tales such as The Three Little Pigs. Students worked hard to create their own props, memorise their lines and enjoyed performing their pieces for younger grades to enjoy. Well done Year 3 & 4.
Stage 3
In our integrated unit titled Global Connections - Our Diverse World, we have been learning about how very different we are to other nations, with our own special identity, yet still very much interconnected. As part of this unit, Stage 3 examined a significant global event, the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics scheduled for 2028 and its effect on people and places. The students discussed how an event of this size and nature affects the local, regional and global communities and how it can lead to solidarity.
We have also looked at how animals, plants and humans are dependent on one another and had a lot of fun making dioramas to represent animal and plant adaptations in our ecosystem.
We hope you enjoy some of our advertising posters for the 2028 Olympic Games and habitat dioramas.
Great work Stage 3.
