Planning for 2026

Planning for 2026 is now in full swing. We are now in a position to share more details regarding Scotsburn organisation for 2026, including the class structure and the allocation of staff roles (see table below).  As is the case at the Buninyong Campus, our structure for 2026 is identical to 2025.

As you can also see below, in 2026 we welcome back Kirsty Robinson to Scotsburn, who will be spending one day per week in SC2. Kirsty is a very familiar face at the campus,  teaching in previous years in SC1 before heading off on maternity leave. In 2026 we will also welcome Steve Skilbeck to the campus as a specialist teacher with Mrs Morgan. As you may know, Mr Skilbeck is the current music teacher at the Buninyong Campus and we look forward to having him with us next year.

We also want to say a huge thank you and good luck to Rachel Middlin, who will be leaving us at the end of the year. Ms Middy has had a huge role at the Scotsburn campus as a specialist teacher and in the classroom in SC1. We will all miss her so much, and will make sure to make the most of the next few weeks with her!

Our next step at Scotsburn is to work through the process of sorting students into class groupings, in particular our Grade 3 students. Each year, this is a process where each Grade 3 student is placed in either the junior or senior class, depending on a range of academic and wellbeing. Jarrod will be making contact with each family of our 2026 Grade 3 students this week, to make a collaborative decision.

Next week, Scotsburn will have their 2026 Orientation Day on Tuesday 9th December. On this day, students will spend the day in their new class, including any new enrollments that we have to the campus. Our Grade 6s attending Government secondary schools next year will have their secondary school Orientation Day on the same day.

In terms of our daily schedule at Scotsburn in 2026, we will also be moving to a one-hour block timetable, in line with the Buninyong Campus. For more information about this, have a read of Bernie’s principal section in this newsletter.

Prep - Grade 2 Sports Day

Well done to all of the students who took part in this year’s P-2 Sports Day!

A late-morning rain shower meant we had to move the event indoors to the gym, but it certainly didn’t wipe the smiles off anyone’s face. Well done to everyone for your enthusiasm and fantastic effort! Enjoy some action shots below.

Grand Parents and Special Friends Day

Thank you to all of our loved ones for attending this year’s Grandparents and Special Friends Day.It was a truly lovely morning. We began the day in the Shed with a short welcome, after which the students returned to their classrooms to show off some of their skills through a short Literacy session. We then created some craft together and enjoyed a wonderful spread of food supplied by our families.

Thank you very much for making the day so special. Special thanks to all that helped with the set up and clean up. Below are some of our SC1’s families.

Scholarship Celebration Evening

Congratulations to Amity, Albus and Milaan for their involvement in the Scholarship Celebration Evening last Thursday night. Albus had some amazing photos on display, Amity with her incredible art works and Milaan rocking out in the school band. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the scholarships program for 2025.

There have been lots of Scotsburn students applying for scholarships in 202, with us looking forward to the announcements of successful applicants in the coming weeks.6

We’ve certainly packed a lot into our week. Last week, we were able to fit in our incursion to Ecolinc, where we learnt about the Christmas Beetle and its habitat. We discovered that their numbers are decreasing, and far fewer people have been able to spot them over the last decade. Scientists are now seeking more information about where these beetles are found and why their population is declining. Scientists would like to collect more information. So if you do spot one. Please upload a photo for their research.

Enjoy the week,

Chelsea and Beth

SC2 Learning Snapshot

Another busy week in SC2 this week, with us now finishing off lots of tasks in readiness for the end of the year. Students are doing a wonderful job in Writing, putting the finishing touches on their Biographies. Whilst drafting and publishing these, students have been learning about genre, tense and tone of a biography, whilst learning a lot about a famous person of their choice. Students have also been this week writing their student report comments, reflecting on all of their learning from Semester 2. They will be a great read for families when they go home at the end of the week.

For our Grade 6 families, there is lots to remember at the moment. Please come in and see us if you have any questions.

Have another awesome week,

Jarrod and Liz

Buninyong Community Playgroup Christmas WonderlandFriday 12th December

Planning for the Buninyong Community Playgroup Christmas Wonderland is in full swing, with the event only just over a week away! As a campus, we will be running two stalls, a bake sale and a 3D printing stall. We would love some donations for our bake sale. If you have a cake or some baked goods that you could prepare for our stall, we would love them to come in on Wednesday or Thursday next week.

Any baked donations will need to be on a disposable plate and air tight covered in gladwrap or something similar. They will also need a full ingredients list attached. Below is a sign up document for volunteers to assist with our stalls on the day. We will have some students helping as well:

Christmas Wonderland Volunteer sign up

Any families wishing to have their own stall, please contact Jarrod this week. He will need to organise this with Belinda from the playgroup, to make sure all stalls are catered for.

A reminder that on the day, school will run as normal, with normal school hours. We will provide time for students to head out and explore, with a supervision plan in place. As there will be items to purchase, it will be a good idea to send a small amount of money with your child. We would love as many families and siblings to attend on the day as well!

We will have more final information in next week’s newsletter.

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
