F/1/2 CLASSROOM

F/1/2 Classroom Update

Over the past three weeks, Miss Talbot has made wonderful progress in the classroom, and we will be incredibly sorry to see her placement come to an end this week. The students have truly flourished under her rich understanding of teaching and learning. Her thoughtful implementation of support activities, along with extension opportunities for students who were ready for an extra challenge, has helped every child continue to grow. We sincerely thank Miss Talbot for her time, dedication, and enthusiasm, and we wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.

Religious Education

In Religious Education, students have been exploring the idea of waiting for something special, linking this to the season of Advent and the anticipation of the coming of Jesus at Christmas. Students have engaged in Godly Play, listened to verses from the Bible, and participated in rich discussions and activities to deepen their understanding of this meaningful time in our faith.

Inquiry Learning

In Inquiry, students have continued their exploration of Earth and Space Science, focusing on how we use and care for the Earth’s resources in our daily lives. Students have discussed the importance of using water wisely and disposing of rubbish thoughtfully to help protect our planet. These conversations have supported our ongoing message of stewardship and responsibility for God’s creation.

Literacy

In Literacy, students continue to work solidly through their InitialLit lessons. We are seeing strong progress across the cohort, with many students demonstrating skills that highlight the value of high-impact, low-variance instruction. The structure and consistency of InitialLit continue to support students in building essential reading and writing foundations.

Mathematics

Our Ochre Maths program continues to provide all students with well-planned and explicitly taught lessons.

Year 1/2 students have been learning about fractions, exploring how collections, time, and even everyday objects can be divided into equal parts.

Foundation students have been extending their work on place value and connecting this understanding to Australian coins and monetary value.

We congratulate all F/1/2 students for maintaining such high levels of engagement, enthusiasm, and effort right through to the end of the year. Their curiosity and dedication continue to shine.
