From The Team

It’s been a busy and festive fortnight in Year 1/2! We were very excited to welcome two very special visitors to our classrooms…our cheeky elves, Coco and Elvin! After a vote, students chose their names and they have already been up to all sorts of mischief. We can’t wait to see what else they get up to as we head toward the end of term! See photos below of our cheeky elves and their profiles, which told us all about them!

It was also fabulous to see so many students attend our final Breakfast Club for the year. Everyone enjoyed pancakes, muffins and fresh fruit and, of course, lots of Christmas cheer as we wore our festive hats. Thank you to all the families who joined us in making it such a joyful morning.

Garden Market

We are very excited for our upcoming Garden Market on Monday 8th December which is being held from 3:00–4:00pm on the stage. The Year 1/2 students will be selling a range of plants they have grown and cared for this term. Prices will range from 50c to $5.

Year 1/2 students may stay to help sell items until 4:00pm but must be accompanied by a parent/carer. Students with after-school commitments are free to go home at the usual time of 3:30pm. We warmly encourage all families to come along and join us in celebrating the wonderful learning of our students.

We hope you all have a lovely fortnight and a fantastic end to the term!

Reminders

  • Garden Market Day Dress-Up: To add some extra excitement to our Garden Market, students are invited to wear garden-themed clothing next Monday. This could include anything inspired by plants, flowers, bugs, gardeners, or nature! If your child doesn’t have a garden-themed outfit, something green or colourful is perfectly fine - whatever helps us create a bright and cheerful garden atmosphere for the day. Thank you for helping make our Garden Market extra special!

  • Library Books: If your child has any school library books at home, please return them as soon as possible in preparation for our end-of-year library procedures.

Garden Market Preparation

Our Garden Market is nearly here! Students have been hard at work getting everything ready, including painting a huge, beautiful sign and creating colourful bunting. We can’t wait to make our market look extra amazing for all our customers!

Petunias!

The Year 1/2 students recently planted some brand new petunias in the tyres near the staff carpark. They have been busy giving them plenty of water. It’s wonderful to see them taking such pride in helping our school grounds bloom and grow!

Wellbeing Week Activities

This week at SPS it is Student Wellbeing Week and we have been focusing on all things wellbeing. One of the activities we did was working in pairs to create a garden-themed structure using only newspaper, tape and scissors (which were only used to help create a fan at the bottom so the structure could stand up). It was great to see the students’ creativity. We had all kinds of garden-themed structures, from palm trees to roses to sunflowers!
