Wellbeing News

In the final three weeks of the term, the College moved into a 3-week transition period with our HeadStart program.
As our students prepare to move into a new year level and new year, change can bring both excitement and uncertainty.
Here’s how families can support their teens during this transition:
- Reflect on the year that’s been: Encourage your teen to celebrate their growth and consider what has workedwell and what could be improved. Reflection helps build self-awareness and resilience.
- Set new balanced, realistic and achievable goals for 2026: Academic goals are important, but so are personalones like becoming more organised, joining new activities, or strengthening friendships.
- Stay connected: Friendships and belonging are central to wellbeing. Encourage your teen to maintain positiveconnections with peers over the Christmas/summer holidays.
- Rest and recharge: The holidays are a time for recovery. Encourage good sleep, time outdoors, and activitiesthat restore energy and motivation.
- Keep perspective: Remind your teen that each year brings new opportunities for growth and discovery. Keep in mind that Christmas and extended periods of unstructured time may be challenging for some young people….encourage them to reach out if needed.
A note from the Outreach Team.
2025 has seen great success for our young people who are part of McClelland's outreach program, with many successfully transitioning back into the mainstream setting during headstart. It is inspiring to witness such personal growth and resilience from these young people.
Wishing all the MCC community and very Merry Christmas and a safe and joyful 2026.
