Message from Bev and Kim

Louis and Rian in the drivers seats.

With just four weeks of the school year to go, the energy across BBPS is wonderfully high as we head toward the finish line. A week of excitement and connection in the lead up to tomorrow’s event has helped!

Tomorrow is our Christmas Fair, and we can’t wait to see everyone between 4–8pm.

Tokens will be available for purchase at the fair, and a heartfelt thank you to the incredible number of parents who have been at school this week helping with preparations. Your generosity and time make this event possible. There are still a few volunteer spaces available for those who can assist—links are available via the WhatsApp groups.

Meanwhile, in the busy world of learning, “beard-mania” has swept the school as students get behind Operation Bye Bye Beard, with a few light-hearted protesters adding to the fun. This has sparked some inspiring learning experiences—from formal debates in Grade 3 to Grade 1 students delighting in reading Roald Dahl’s The Twits

Congratulations to our Grade 3s, with the longest line of coins – who this week named Mr A’s beard Hairy Styles and painted it green (with a cheeky 6-7 in the midst). Thanks to our families for getting behind this cause, all money raised will be added to the overall PA fundraising.

A huge congratulations to our Grade 4 and 5 students who have completed Bike Education for another year. Beyond developing essential road-safety awareness, the program builds student confidence, independence, and practical cycling skills they can use in the community. It’s always a highlight of the upper-primary experience.

Shout out to a Dreamers Netball team, who took home the cup at the Clash of the Courts event recently – a big thanks to Mel and Liz for your energy in driving this fantastic initiative.

Prep 2026 Transition resumed last week, and it has been wonderful welcoming our newest learners back on site. These sessions help children build familiarity with the school environment, meet staff, and begin forming friendships that support a positive start to their first year of school. We are pleased to confirm that we will have two Prep classes in 2026, led by Naomi Beales and Alison Coutts.

Class formations for Grades 1-6 are still being finalised, and our community will be notified in the final week of the term, when our students will have the opportunity to meet their 2026 teacher.

Looking ahead, Monday 1 December will be our final whole-school assembly for the year (except for the final-day assembly dedicated to farewelling our Grade 6s).

Go Dreamers Netball!

We were very spoilt this week, with our staff acknowledging World Principal's Day - we enjoyed a lovely morning tea, appreciated the kind words from our colleagues, and received a frame-worthy gift from the whole school!  We love what we do, and love BBPS!

Next Friday, 5 December, all parent helpers are warmly invited to our Parent Thank You Morning Tea in the staffroom—our small way of recognising the many ways families have supported our school community throughout the year. Please come and join us from 11am.

We are delighted to again be welcoming eight visiting teachers-in-training from Nakamura Gakuen University, Japan in term 1, 2026.  BBPS will again host these students, from 25th February to 1st March (4 nights) and we are currently seeking expressions of interest for families interested in billotting these university students. This is a wonderful opportunity to share Australian culture and hospitality while learning more about Japanese education and language. If your family would like to be involved, please let the Admin Office know (including how many students you would be able to host). We currently have two families who are hosting. We need six more. Thanking you in advance.

Bring Your Own Device Program 2026 – Following recent government announcements, changes to the use of devices in schools will begin for BBPS next year. Please see the document attached to our newsletter Compass post for details, impacting students grades 2-6.

Please see our 2026 Parent Payment Contributions page for information on how to order stationery and the ways in which your contributions greatly benefit BBPS. More information will be sent via compass on Monday - keep your eyes out for details

A reminder that school finishes for students on Thursday 18 December at 3:30pm, with our Grade 6 Farewell Assembly at 2:30pm. We look forward to celebrating our graduating students as a community and forming the BBPS River of Love!
