KINDERGARTEN EXCURSION - PEVAN & SARAH CONCERT
On Friday, November 28th, our Kindergarten class had a wonderful time attending The Pevan and Sarah concert. The students were captivated by the singing and dancing performed live!
All of our Kinder students enthusiastically joined in, singing and dancing along to all of the familiar songs. It was a very enjoyable day out, and the students made us incredibly proud with their excellent behaviour throughout the entire concert. What a memorable experience!
YEAR 4 EXCURSION TO AUBURN BOTANICAL GARDENS
Swish, rustle and crunch went the leaves as Year 4 explored the Auburn Botanical Gardens on Tuesday 25 November. Today, we learnt about both Japanese and Australian fauna and flora. Year 4 all had an amazing time exploring the Japanese gardens, visiting native Australian wildlife including wombats, kangaroos, emus and wallabies as well as all different kinds of native Australian and Japanese plants.
At the end of the day, we participated in two activities - writing calligraphy of the Japanese characters and origami making!
Year 4 had an amazing day at Auburn Botanical Gardens and are very grateful for the teachers and the experiences that we have in this school.

YEAR 5 EXCURSION TO MERITON
In Geography, Year 5 is learning about sustainable communities and the different elements that make them. On Tuesday 25 November, we went on an excursion to the Meriton development project, Pagewood Green, to investigate for ourselves whether this project was creating a sustainable community. It was an interesting walk through one of the urban habitats of the city that we live in, so that we could learn about sustainable communities. The walk offered many species of trees, flowers, and plants, along with the numerous birds we saw. The trek through the site was very intriguing. During the walk we had many stops to take photographs of the exquisite amount of plants that were displayed. Afterwards, we visited the playground and enjoyed ourselves. We spent lots of time learning about the diverse flora and fauna the community was showing.

YEAR 5 INCURSION - FIELD OF MARS
Last week, Wednesday 26 November, the teachers from the Field of Mars Environmental Education Centre came to Year 5 for an incursion, as we are learning about sustainable communities. This was an opportunity for us to create and produce a nature documentary at school using iMovie. The process and experience was extremely valuable. We learned about camera angles, tips and tricks for iMovie, and how to write an informative, engaging script. We were able to work collaboratively and learnt to work together as a team, and also faced and overcame challenges with our project. We struggled a little with audio issues and camera quality, but we were able to fix them with the help of the friendly teachers. Beyond the technical and practical aspects of filming and editing, the most profound part of the documentary was the human connection and relationship we experienced with nature and each other. Year 5 is immensely appreciative and grateful for the hard working teachers that made this learning happen.

LETS GO SURFING - YEAR 6 - THURSDAY 27 NOVEMBER
Let’s Go Surfing was such an awesome experience! We learnt so many new things. The instructors showed us step by step how to surf and boogie board, and they also taught us about the ocean and how waves work. They made sure we were safe at the beach by reminding us to wear zinc and sunscreen, and they were really knowledgeable and helpful. Everyone had a fantastic time, and I really hope we get the chance to do it again!

AMADEUS END OF YEAR CONCERT
The St Aidan’s Amadeus End of Year Concert held on Friday 28 November was a great end to the year for the music program as students were able to showcase and share their talents with the school community.
