Grade 2 Community News
Dear Grade 2 Families,
We have had an amazing term 4. The students have worked hard towards achieving their learning goals in EMP for Maths and InitiaLit.
English
In InitiaLit, we have been focusing on revision and assessment of all of our learned spelling rules and tricky words. We have also been completing comprehension based assessments targeting our understanding of a text. This year we have learned about many spelling rules and reading strategies which will build a strong platform for us to build on in the coming years.
Maths
In Maths, we have completed our end-of-year assessments, allowing the teachers to gain another avenue for assessing our growth this year. We have learned many new topics and built towards a solid start to grade 3 by exposing new concepts from higher year levels. This year has brought a lot of new changes, one of them being the EMP, which has provided the students with an explicit, direct approach to mathematics.
Knowledge Building
The students have enjoyed ending the year learning about Greek mythology. We have learned about the 12 Greek Gods and how Greek myths explain the changes of the seasons and other various Greek myths. Test them out and ask about the ancient Greek gods!
Reminders:
- Book Packs- Don’t forget to order your child’s book packs for Year 3 by December 14th
- End of Term- Term 4 finishes on Friday, 19th December at 1:30 pm
- Term 1 2026- Term 1 2026 will start on Thursday, 29th January, for all students in Years 3-6
- Arrive on time - School begins at 8:45 am. Please ensure that your child is in their classroom by this time, ready for learning to begin.
