Performing Arts News

Hi Tarneit Rise families, welcome to the final Performing Arts newsletter for 2025.
It has been a fantastic year in Performing Arts, one that has seen a lot of growth. This year, our program was expanded to run over an entire school year for all students for the first time. This also meant that our team of teachers grew from two to four.
This year, the preps were given a whole term introduction to Performing Arts, followed by one term each learning about dance, music, and drama. To finish the year, our prep classes are making a video to celebrate their learning for the year. All our preps have shown enormous growth in their first year as performing artists, and they have all had heaps of fun!
All grade one to six students were taught a term of dance in term one, followed by a semester of music over terms two and three. We have finished the year off with a term of drama.
Grade ones and two have completed their puppetry units by creating their own puppets. In grade one, students built shadow puppets and learned to manipulate them using a light source. Grade two students build rod puppets to create their own puppet characters.
Grade three and four students have completed their unit on improvisation and devising using scripts. This unit has enabled students to hone their acting skills and understanding of dramatic elements like character, setting, and conflict. We have also seen fantastic growth in students’ confidence when sharing their improvisations in front of their peers.
Our grade five and six students have completed their short films. They worked together to complete filming and edit their films on their iPads. We are really looking forward to sharing our films with each other over the final weeks of the year!
Throughout this year, the Performing Arts team has also been busy with a range of after-school and lunchtime clubs, including filmmaking, choir, and musical club. Thank you and congratulations to all students who have participated in a club this year. Please find below an example of some of their fantastic work.

Across all the grades, we have been so proud of the creativity, growth, and hard work displayed by all of our performing artists.
Have a great holiday and see you next year!
