Principal's Report

Mrs Larissa Vesdrevanis

We hope you all enjoyed the extra-long weekend. With only 3 more weeks to go before the end of term, Donvale Primary School has been a hive of activity. We have some very special news to share with the community. The Donvale School Council has been discussing options to utilise the fundraising money the students and families have raised over the past few years. Last year, we raised close to $20,000 with the Whole School Fun Run. The goal was to raise money for a creative playground. After looking at a few options together with the School Council, we are pleased to inform you that a Ninja Playground has been selected, with the installation commencing this week. We hope to have the playground ready for students to use by next week. We will keep you updated on the progress, and we will have a safe rollout plan for students to use the new equipment.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our School Councillors, in particular Leah Martini, for her work in sourcing the Ninja Playground option.

I informed the students last week, and I received an overwhelmingly positive response.

We are very excited to be providing our students with another means to develop their fitness and challenge themselves with this new play equipment. By adding another play option for our students, we are expanding the variety of play options available to students at Donvale Primary School. The Ninja Playground will be used by students at recess and lunchtime, during PE classes, and for class 'Brain Breaks'.

Late Arrivals and Early Departures

Students who arrive ‘LATE' to or ‘LEAVE EARLY' from the school must also have “approvals” logged by parents.

Please note that these approvals can only be recorded after the fact as they are “time stamped” by Compass.  Parents/Carers are not to pre-approve these partial day absences.

All students who arrive late to school must report to the office to ensure they are not marked as absent for the first session; parents NEED to accompany the students on these occasions as we are unable to take responsibility for students as they walk from the car into the school grounds.  Similarly, students must always be signed out by a parent or carer who is listed as a student contact.  If your child is being signed out by someone who is not authorised to do so, that adult must bring a letter of authority with them.

We appreciate your understanding in supporting us to ensure the safety and well-being of your child.
