District Soccer

Written by Miss Muir

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of taking this fantastic bunch of Grade 5/6 students to District Soccer in Ballarat, alongside Mr. Carlyle and Miss Burns. Unfortunately, we did not win a game but we went into each game with a fighting spirit, and played with incredible teamwork! The team worked together to kick a mighty fine goal against Caledonian in our second game which put a huge smile on everyone's face. The students on and off field cheered each other on throughout each game which was so pleasing to see and be a part of. I was so proud of each and everyone of them for their efforts and persistence, and the way in which they represented our school, which was to an impressive standard, and put a huge smile on my dial!

Last Friday at Assembly, a few of the students that participated stood up in front of the whole school and gave everyone a rundown of the three games. In case you missed it, this is some of what they read out to the school.

Our first game, we played North Ballarat. We sadly lost 2-0 but Hunter and Jhett were amazing goal keepers saving a few each.

The second game we played Caledonian. It ended up being a tie, and everyone played very good. Everyone played with amazing teamwork and the goal keepers were outstanding with their blocks and Jhett kicked an amazing goal that was assisted by James.

Our last game we played Pleasant Street. We sadly lost 0-6 but we had some amazing blocks made by Jhett.

NOW TIME FOR THE SHOUTOUTS

Lucas played with great defence, London great attacking, Abbey was so helpful by keeping track of the scores, and Hunter and Jhett for being great co captains. Hallam great goal stopping, James great teamwork and Heidi great defence. Mason was great at attacking, Lulu awesome defending, and Malyah awesome saves while goal keeping. Lenny and Isaac displayed outstanding teamwork, and Georgia fantastic ball stealing!

Middle Years

Our excursion on Monday to the old Geelong Gaol was a great success. Geelong turned the weather on for us as the students learned about how the gaol operated, its different uses over time, the building design, and about some infamous historical visitors and inmates like Captain Thunderbolt and Ned Kelly.

Next week we have our second last Footsteps session. Some students have said that, "this footsteps has been the best ever!". There is certainly a lot of enthusiasm, impressive and original dance moves being thrown around.

Thank you to parents for your support with our ongoing MAPPEN project. More and more student-made artefacts have begun to accumulate in the classroom, ready for our First Contact Expo later this term.

Junior Team

In the last few weeks our P-2 students have had the opportunity to get out in the garden and do some planting.

The Prep students have planted some flower bulbs in the garden area outside the Prep rooms and it is very exciting to see that they have started to sprout. We are all looking forward to watching the flowers bloom. So, next time you're waiting for the end of day pick up have a look to see how the flowers are growing!

As part of the 1/2 Gardening classes, the students have also had the opportunity to plant flowers and more recently some broad beans. The flowers that we planted late last term are thriving and it's been exciting to see that in only a few short weeks, the broad bean plants are also taking off.

A call out to any families that would also like to help assist the 1/2s at Gardening, we are always looking for an extra set of hands. If this is something that you would be interested in, please reach out to the 1/2 teachers.
