HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY

INTER HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY

On Thursday May 9th, the sun was shining in the morning and there was much excitement and buzz surrounding the House Cross Country. The 11, 12 and 13-year-old ran approximately 3 km, the 9, and 10-year-old approximately 2 km and the 5, 6 and 7-, 8 year-old approximately 1km.

Many students and staff plus parents dressed up in their house colours and big thank you to all Marlborough staff who ran / walked with their students. It was also great to see our older students also walk/ run with our younger students making sure they safely completed the course.

I must give a massive thank you to all the Marlborough Community, parents, grandparents, guardians, and all Marlborough staff who so generously gave up their time to act as marshals and supporters along the course and at help at the finish line, especially in such hectic conditions. The Zoopers Doopers were a big hit thank you to Andrew and Lyndal who stepped in and helped. We could not have run this event so successfully without everybodies help. Indonesian News

Statewide Indonesian Speaking Competition Results

On Friday 31st of May, we had over 30 students enter Sayembara Lisan, an Indonesian Speaking Competition, run in conjunction with VILTA (Victorian Indonesian Language Teachers’ Association) and the Asia Institute, University of Melbourne.

It was an amazing effort to have so many students compete and congratulations to all of you.

Bu Devathas from Heathmont College visited our school to assess our students as part of the Maroondah region. The competition included simple questions and the students either sang a song, recited a poem or engaged in conversation in Indonesian.

I am very proud to announce that we have 7 students who have made it through to the finals. Congratulations to the following students:

Level 1 (Grade 1/2 students):  to Reuben V and Katherine W

Level 2 (Grade 3/4 students): Matthew R

Level 3(Grade 5/6 students): Sylvie A, Hannah D, Zoe N and Brandon P

The finals will be held on Saturday 27th July at Melbourne High School. We wish you all “Semoga sukses!”

Terima kasih,

(Bu) Mary-Ellen Dowling
