Online Gambling- Parent Webinar

In recent years there have been increasing concerns about the risks online gambling poses for young people, especially with the number of sporting bodies who have associations with betting organisations and the increasing accessibility of gambling activities to our young people due to the prevalence of smartphones and tablets.

Many of our youth perceive gambling as a normal part of everyday life, which can lead to an unhealthy view that gambling is harmless. Online gambling can give them unrealistic beliefs about their likelihood of winning, especially since many online gambling platforms have a ‘practice mode’ where players regularly win.

To assist in developing greater awareness of the impact this issue can have on our youth, the College has linked with GambleAware to deliver a parent webinar on Wednesday 12 June. Old Boy Adrian Ienna ('13) and his colleagues will provide details about the issue of gambling and offer opportunities for feedback in a Q&A session.

A QR code allowing registration for this event will be provided in an email to be distributed to parents/carers in the near future.
