ISA Football

Last week the ISA held their U16 and Opens Football trials, with six SPC students selected: Habib Ghosn and Deegan O’Brien-Kratiuk in the Opens squad and Sebastian Lombardo, Jake Nasr, Samuel Pilarinos and Liam La Rosa all selected in the U16s squad. Well done and best of luck to all these boys as they look to go past the next stage of trials and represent the ISA.

NSWCIS Rugby League

Four SPC students have made it through the first selection stage to represent NSWCIS in Rugby League. Ronan O’Neill and Charlie Savoca progressed in the U15 age group while Alex Conti and Mitchell Woods did the same in the Opens age group. All four boys went into camp over the weekend and played a trial on Monday with the hopes of making the final squad. Well done and best of luck.

Fundraising Achievement

Archie Ackland of Year 7 had a very busy weekend where he participated in a 10km fun run to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis. Archie ran a time of 38:29 which saw him come fifth out of 1,600 competitors and first in the Youth Section of the race. His mother also took part in the run, completing it in just over an hour. Together they raised $1,749 which is a fantastic achievement. Well done to Archie and Fiona on your outstanding effort, the College is very proud of you both.

Weekend Fixtures

A reminder that all boys are expected to arrive at their sporting fixture 30 minutes before it starts, given the unpredictability of Sydney traffic, and where possible, aiming to arrive 45 minutes before the start time is largely recommended by the College’s Sports Department. Arriving early ensures an adequate warm-up and assists coaches to have their teams as prepared as possible to take on opposition.

All boys should have the mobile number of multiple members of their team and their coach’s email address. This way if they are running late for any reason, they will be able to communicate with a teammate who can inform the coach. On the rare occasion that a boy is unwell and not able to attend their fixture, an email should be sent to myself, the Head or MIC of their chosen sport and their coach as early as possible Saturday morning. This will allow for the team to prepare best for their fixture.

Thank you once again to the players, coaches, parents/carers, and anyone else involved in sport at SPC for your continued support and outstanding efforts.
