Learning and Teaching in 5/6G
This term, 5/6G students embarked on an exciting journey to become young entrepreneurs. It all began with an inspiring Smoothie Bar incursion where students learned about running a business and what it means to be an entrepreneur. They discovered that an entrepreneur is someone who creates a business, taking on most of the risks and rewards, while coming up with innovative ideas to solve problems.
After the incursion, the students formed groups to brainstorm product ideas aimed at making a teacher's life easier. They carefully considered the function of their product, the resources needed, the benefits to teachers, and why their product would stand out. Each group created a unique name and logo for their product, showcasing their creativity and teamwork.
To further inspire their entrepreneurial spirit, the students watched an episode of Junior Shark Tank. They were particularly impressed by 13-year-old Maddox Pritchard, who demonstrated engaging and persuasive techniques to convince the sharks. Taking notes from Maddox, our students learned the importance of believing in their product and presenting it with confidence and excitement.
Armed with their newfound knowledge, the students worked diligently in teams to create scripts for their pitches. When the big day arrived, they presented their ideas to a 'Shark Panel', impressing everyone with their innovative solutions and well-rehearsed pitches.
This experience has not only honed our students' creativity and teamwork but also sparked their excitement for what the future holds. They learned that with determination and innovative thinking, they can create products that make a real difference.
We are incredibly proud of our achievements and can't wait to see what we come up with next!
