SPORT

We have hit the ground running this term with Cross Country last week! Everyone was amazing as they tried their hardest and cheered everyone on. It was a wonderful day even though it felt like we were going to get blown away. It would not have been so successful if it weren't for the parent volunteers so THANK YOU SO MUCH! Congratulations to everyone but a big congratulations to the students moving onto the next level at Moama on Friday the 17th.

These students are: Ben, James B, Tamara, Hamish, Phoebe, Sophie, Caleb, Zeb, Scotty, Liliana, Jaxon, Colt and Zac.

Cross Country WINNERS:

We also have a busy sporting week coming up! The athletics coach will be joining us on Thursdays for the next few weeks to prepare us for our carnival coming up at the end of the term. He will be teaching us all of the skills and techniques for all of our track and field events!

I am very excited to take our soccer players to the soccer tournament. We will be traveling to Moama to compete in 12 minute games against seven other local teams. Our uniforms look amazing and we have called in a coach to support the boys on the day!

Important dates:

16th of May: Athletics Coach at School

17th of May: Cross Country - second stage in Moama

23rd of May: Athletics Coach at School

STEM

In STEM, the F/1 students loved learning more about algorithms, programming and coding using these Mr Potato Head sets. Each student had to give very specific instructions to their partner to ensure they were able to recreate the exact same Mr Potato Head as was on their card. At the end of the lesson, the students were given free time to create their own funny looking Mr Potato Head which I’m sure was the highlight given all the laughing that could be heard!!

ART

We can’t share too much of what we’ve been making in art lately as they are a surprise for Mother’s Day but we have also begun our unit on textiles! Over the next few weeks the junior classes with be learning how to weave and learn some basic sewing skills and the older students are going to the creating some sweets and lollies out of felt.

ITALIAN

Students in the F-2 area have been busy creating a caterpillar (un bruco) in response to the story Il bruco molto affamato ( The very hungry caterpillar). We have been learning to pronounce the days of the week in order in Italian. Following this we will learn to say the fruits that the caterpillar munched through.

Grades 3-6 have begun their new unit of work on L'Aula (The classroom). Students have started learning vocab and simple sentences like Cosa c'e' nel tuo astuccio? (What is in your pencil case?).

Buona Festa della mamma! (Happy Mother's Day)
