Samoan Language Week

Talofa lava!

Staughton College celebrated Samoan Language Week in Week 7.  The college recently formed a Choir titled 'Mana' in the weeks prior to Samoan Language Week. The word 'Mana' is a term used all over the Pacific which embodies the spirit of being empowered and that is the hope for these students who participate in the Choir.

This same choir, which consists of Students from both Pacific and non Pacific backgrounds also performed the Samoan Hymn 'Tala Mai Le Lagi Lou Mamalu' at the Senior School Assembly to commemorate Samoan Language Week.

Polynesian Students from across the school have been practicing all term in the lead up to Samoan Language Week where Staughton College witnessed 3 Samoan performances at the recently concluded Athletics Carnival.

Huge thank you to Yvette Medina, Deng Tebir & Kalolaine Manusete for organising and facilitating practices with the students.
