School Wide Positive Behaviour Support and Respective Relationships News
School-wide positive behaviour support is an evidence-based framework for Victorian government schools for preventing and responding to student behaviour. It aims to create a positive school climate, a culture of student competence and an open, responsive management system for all school community members.
Instead of using many different behaviour management strategies, a consistent system of expectations for all students within our school is implemented in all areas including classrooms and other settings such as in the pool, the playground and on the buses.
Our students know these expectations as our
EMBRACE 4 SCHOOL RULES
We respect school property.
We stay in the learning spaces at school.
We behave in a friendly manner.
We keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
Our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support Plan
Students are taught the expected behaviours.
Students are shown videos of their peers modelling the expected behaviours.
The language of the school rules is embedded in classroom programs.
Students are encouraged, praised and rewarded when they follow the rules. Rewards can be in the form of house points, stickers, reward charts, time at preferred activities or more tangible rewards which can be earned via playground positive acknowledgements awarded when desired behaviour is observed in the playground.
All staff post these positive acknowledgements on Compass. Please check your child's Compass Chronicles and praise them for earning these positive points. The leading students names are published on the celebrations page.
CSPS believes that by helping students practise good behaviour, we will build a school community where all students have an environment where they can succeed and grow.
Since the beginning of the year there have been 1995 Positive Acknowledgements posted on to Compass. This means that students have been seen to be doing the "RIGHT" thing 1995 times!
Well done to all of the students who have reached the 10 point club, the 20 point club and those who have already reached the 50 point club! AMAZINGLY good behaviour!
Congratulations to 6B for being awarded with the most Positive Points with184 points. Well done 4B for coming a close second with 181. Thanks for showing the 5Ps of Purpose, Positivity, Persistence, Pride and Passion in all that you do!
Congratulations to 6A for being awarded the Ga Ga Pit rewards this week and for showing Persistence when walking around the school in an orderly manner. Great to see the school leaders being great role models.
Hama Bead Lunchtime club.
In Term 1 students have had the option of attending lunchtime clubs. Every Tuesday Mrs Mills has been running a Hama Beading club. Students have been making patterns, pixel art and allowing their imaginations fly with their creations. As students finish their art they are ironed by a teacher and sent home to be enjoyed.
It has been incredible to see students from F-6 coming in and enjoying some quiet, calm time. The club has had a huge turn out with over 20 students showing up every week, more than Mrs Mills predicted. We are looking forward to continuing making crafty creations throughout term 1. Everyone is welcome.
