Grade 2

Story Book

We have finished reading Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvelous Medicine! Our grade 2’s loved reading our first chapter book together and demonstrated wonderful comprehension skills. They particularly loved making predictions about what would happen in each chapter. We encourage you to explore more Roald Dahl books at home over the holidays!

Maths

Our mathematicians have been reviewing maths concepts that we have learnt this year, with a focus on worded problems. We are so impressed with how well our students have been able to demonstrate skills that they learnt so long ago! 

Writing

This week we have been reviewing Narrative and Persuasive writing in preparation for NAPLAN. Each writing piece has been related to Christmas which has been so engaging for our students. Their favourite writing lesson was writing a persuasive piece persuading Santa that they should be on the nice list.

Gravity Zone

We had the BEST time at the Gravity Zone excursion. There were so many exciting things to do including huge trampolines, dodgeball and laser tag. After Gravity Zone we went to a park to have lunch and play on a big playground. We are so proud of how our students showed all of School Value while on the excursion. 

End of Year Parties

On Wednesday the 18th of December we are having end of year parties to celebrate what a wonderful year we have had together in Grade 2. Please refer to your classroom teachers instructions regarding what to bring, and contact them if you have any questions or concerns. 

Christmas Concert

Thank you so much to everyone who came to the Christmas Concert! We have been working so hard at rehearsing our dance and have been so excited to show all the grown ups. Well done to everyone who danced up on stage, you were all brilliant!

We have had a wonderful year in Grade 2 and are so incredibly proud of what our students have achieved this year. Each student has made lovely friendships, learnt so many new things and had so much fun every day. We have loved spending our days with them and have made so many wonderful memories together. We wish you a fantastic break and wish you the best of luck next year!
