Canteen News

As I wrap up my three-year journey as Canteen Convenor, I take a moment to reflect on the unique phases that defined each year.

In my first year, I experienced an adjustment period filled with new challenges and experiences. It was quite overwhelming as I learned the routines and began to find my place in the canteen, both online and offline.

The second year was focused on adaptation. I became more comfortable and engaged, building relationships with fellow volunteers and canteen staff, while also gaining a better understanding of our routines.

By my third year, I entered a rewarding phase where my passion for volunteering truly blossomed. I took the lead on initiatives and saw the positive impact of our collective efforts.

As I move forward, I will carry with me the lessons learned and the connections made throughout this fulfilling journey. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this incredible experience. Your support and companionship have meant so much. Don’t worry; you will still see me volunteering in the canteen and remaining involved with the committee.

Committee Update

The canteen operates as a sub-committee of the Chatswood Public School P&C Association. It functions with the help of staff, committee members, and volunteers. Current committee members include Yenny Ho - Convenor, Yong Sim - Treasurer, Jez Robert - Secretary, Aimee Pflederer, and Pip Margan. They generously volunteer their time to promote the health of our students, ensuring we comply with NSW food safety protocols. Together, we make decisions with the well-being of students in mind. A heartfelt thank you to the committee members for your time and effort over the past year; your contributions are truly appreciated by both students and the community.

We are excited to welcome Hedy Shen and Carrie Grundy to the canteen committee. They are wonderful individuals, and I believe their involvement will greatly enhance our committee's success. The canteen leadership for 2025 will be:

  • Convenor – Carrie Grundy
  • Treasurer – Yong Sim
  • Secretary – Hedy Shen
  • Members – Aimee Pflederer and Yenny

As Jez’s child graduates, he will be stepping down after many years of dedicated service to the CPS canteen and committee. Thank you, Jez, for your commitment and contributions over the years. We wish you all the best for the future.

Thank you, Pip, for bringing fresh ideas to our meetings. Your input has positively impacted the canteen community. Best of luck with your new role as P&C Vice President in 2025!

Volunteers

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the volunteers who helped us at the canteen this year. Each one of you is greatly appreciated. It has been a fun, busy, and memorable year, and we hope for your continued support moving forward.

Staff

A big thank you to our dedicated canteen staff for your hard work this year. Your commitment is truly valued. Wishing you all great health in the new year and a Merry Christmas!

On behalf of the canteen, I would like to wish all CPS parents, carers, teachers, office staff, and canteen staff a well-deserved break. Enjoy the holidays with your loved ones! Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

If you’re interested in learning more about our roles on the committee or would like to join us, please don’t hesitate to email us at canteenconvenor@chatswoodpublicpandc.org.au.
