From the Classroom

News from 5/6

In our last newsletter item for the year, we would like to say how proud of your children we both are. This group of students are resilient, kind, thoughtful and respectful. Throughout the year we have learned a considerable amount, laughed a great deal and had a lot of fun whilst doing it all!

As the year 6 students have begun to write their speeches for graduation, we have been speaking to all the students about their favourite memories from the year. Some mentioned camp and others mentioned the Mini Olympics, but the majority of the students spoke about the strong friendships they have and the time spent together in the classroom, across the unit and outside in the yard. It has been rewarding to see students working together, cultivating relationships and maintaining their sense of community at Marlborough this year.

We could not have done this year without the support of the parents. A huge thank you to those who helped out during 56 Sport, assisted us on excursions, came to camp with us and those who are organising graduation. We have greatly appreciated your help and everything you have done to make this a wonderful year for your children.

We hope you have a great break over the holidays and enter 2025 refreshed and ready for what the new year brings you!

News in 1/2s

We have had an action packed, fun-filled past couple of weeks with the 1/2s! As the year is coming to an end, it has been great to reflect with the students and congratulate all the amazing progress the students have achieved over the year.

Last Friday, the F-2 students had their Fun Day! This day was filled with laughter, smiles and engaging team building activities. To start off the morning, the students made chocolate balls and covered them in coconut sprinkles. Next, we decorated our very own Christmas stockings embracing the Christmas colours and sequins. After snack, we read the book 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' and got creative in making the Grinch! Lastly, we had our incursion from Kaboom Kids Sports which was fantastic. This included lots of music and dancing, circus activities, soccer, team building activities and much more. The Grade 2's stayed after school and did a scattergories scavenger hunt, had a yummy dinner and watched a movie. The night was a great success!

In English, the students have been learning about different types of poems and rhymes. We have been writing our own alliteration and rhyming poems and sharing them with the class. In Maths, we have been revisiting reading calendars. We have been focusing on the month of December and putting all the exciting events in our calendars. The students have been enjoying creating and continuing Christmas patterns and making lots of Christmas crafts!

The Grade 1s had their last session with their buddies from Grade 5/6 and had a beautiful card to give them. They enjoyed their last session working together making a Christmas drawing.  Thank you to all of the parent helpers over the year helping on our excursion and reading with the students, it has been a fantastic year and we wish you have a great break over the holidays ready for 2025!

Fantastic Foundations:

What a fantastic end to the year we have had. Our fantastic foundations have been in the full swing of Christmas celebrations, joining in a daily Christmas countdown. We have been enjoying cooking experiences, craft and imaginative play.

FUN DAY!!

and was it fun!! Foundation enjoyed every moment of fun day, and everyone's participation efforts on the day were so impressive. We were involved in physical activities which encouraged our gross motor skills. Alongside with fun music and a great host we all couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces from start till end. We also participated in a cooking activity of making yum yum balls, and an arts and crafts activity of making Grinch models. We had such a fun day!

Thank you all for a great second half of the year, I have loved being apart of the foundation family. I wish you all a happy and safe Christmas.
