From the Principal

Christmas Concert

We are all looking forward to our Christmas Concert on Wednesday, 18th December

commencing at 5.00pm. (Food trucks will be here from 4.30pm). The Christmas Concert is always such a wonderful community event and we are looking forward to another one this year.

All classes will be performing on the night and this year we will have a performance by our ‘Camelot Rise 3- and 4-year-old Playgroup’. We are looking forward to seeing all classes and our Playgroup performing on the night.

It promises to be a fun evening.

Farewell to the Class of 2024

Our 2024 Year Six students are now in their final weeks of primary school. We are very

much looking forward to the Year 6 Graduation and Awards night that will be held on Wednesday, 11th December.

It is an exciting time for any young person to move from the sanctuary of their primary school and take the challenge of entering secondary school. We would like to wish them all a very fond farewell from Camelot Rise Primary School. We know our school has provided these students with the skills and confidence to take on any challenge they face in the coming years. I would also like to farewell all the families that are departing Camelot Rise Primary School for a variety of reasons.

We hope that wherever you go you will look back fondly at your time at Camelot Rise Primary School.

School reports - Friday 13th December

Our Semester 2 Student Reports will be ‘live’ from Friday, 13th December. Please take time to read though your child’s report and discuss with them their achievements, their attitudes towards their learning and the future learning goals.

A final reminder to parents of Year 6 students, as well as families who are leaving the school, to please download all the reports from Compass before the last day of term. Once the term finishes, those families will no longer have access to Compass.

Thanks to the teaching staff that spend many hours preparing and producing these reports.

Thank You to Our School Council

Our dedicated School Council meets each month during the school year to undertake their important role in the governance of Camelot Rise PS. The work of our School Council focuses on oversight of important areas such as the school finances, buildings and grounds, school policy, strategic planning, fundraising and out of school hours care provision.

We have an outstanding school council in 2024 with excellent representation provided by parents and carers and members of our teaching staff. Working in partnership our school council maintains a strong focus on continuous improvement and making sure that our students receive a high-quality education.

We will be holding school council elections in February 2025 and we are always on the lookout for new members to join. There are no special skills required and if you talk to any current councillor I sure they would encourage others to consider this opportunity.

On behalf of everyone in our community I want sincerely thank our school councillors for 2024.

School Leadership positions 2025

Last Friday we announced the 2025 Student Leadership Positions. This is a very detailed  process involving students preparing and presenting speeches to their peers and teachers, students and staff voting and finally the students that were shortlisted for the roles of School Captain also had an ‘interview’ with Mr Heys, Mrs Bett and myself. Congratulations to the following students that were elected to leadership positions for 2025.

There will be an assembly early in 2025 when we will present these students with their leadership badges.

Reading

With the school holidays looming, I thought now was a good time to remind families of the benefits of regular reading habits. Whilst we expect students to read every night as part of their homework routine, we truly want them to want to read every night for enjoyment. We hope this continues over the holidays and that our students can continue to keep up their reading habits. Research shows that the summer break leads to approximately a two-week drop-in literacy skill for some students. For those that read regularly, they go the other way and can gain more than a month in terms of learning growth, simply by enjoying a book here and there and reading before bedtime.

Have a wonderful holiday!

We would like to wish all students, parents, and staff a wonderful Christmas and holiday

season with their families. We would like to thank everyone who works so hard to make Camelot Rise Primary School such a fantastic school.

We appreciate the opportunity to work with your children each day. This relationship between school and home is vitally important and we know that our students benefit from the great relationship we have with our community.

Again, thanks for a wonderful year.

Finally, if you and your family use our school grounds during the holidays and see any suspicious activity, please call DET Emergency Management 9589 6266 or Glen Waverley Police 9566 1555 or 000.
