What a big start to the year at TPS

Mr Hogan

Welcome back to 2025. We hope that everyone has had a chance to spend some quality time with families. It has been great to see so many happy, smiling faces back to school.

A date for the diary is our Welcome BBQ on Monday, February 10th at 6pm. An opportunity for our school community to reconnect at the start of what is going to be a great year.

Uniform

Our new Grade 6 shirts have arrived and look fantastic. The design, which they created and voted on by themselves is very effective and they will look like great leaders in these throughout the year.

A reminder that school polo tops, jumpers and jackets are to be purchased from either Workwear Connect in Kyabram or Worklocker Echuca.

School broad brimmed hats, bags and beanies are purchased through the school office.

The School Saving Bonus of $400 per child can be used to purchase uniforms at either of these shops.

Pick up protocols

As has been communicated, the drive through is not to be used for pick up after school. This is to prevent the long line of cars we saw last year that often went outside the gates. Preferred pick up points are on Pankhurst and Purdey street, or on the school side of Miller street, but well clear of the crossing and bus bays. Families are more than welcome to wait for their child outside their classroom doors at the end of the day.

The drive through may be used in the morning to drop students off quickly. If wanting to go to the office or walk your child to their classroom, you will need to park outside the school grounds.

Curriculum Contributions

Parent Payments are able to be made via Compass. We are pleased to be able to keep our Curriculum Contributions at $250 per student for 2025.This includes an individual stationary pack for your child to use in their classroom, valued at $50.Payments can be made in installments or as a one-off payment. For any enquiries, please speak to Karen in the office.

Welcome Mrs Elborough

We welcome Mrs Jaclyn Elborough to Tongala Primary School for the 2025 School year. Mrs Elborough will be teaching in Grade 3/4 in Mrs Holloway's absence.

Jac has taught in WA for many years, but is an ex-Tongala local, who attended the school as a student and excited to return in 2025 as a teacher.

I have no doubt our school community will make Jac feel very welcome.

ACHIEVE

As part of our Professional Learning this week, we launched our new Instructional Model - ACHIEVE.

Achieve is an acronym which covers the way our preferred model of teaching would work to ensure students maximise their potential.

Staff unpacked what each part of the model looks like and spoke about the many ways we can celebrate academic ACHIEVEment. Below is a copy of our model.

Assembly

Due to timetabling, we are moving our Assembly to 2:45pm on a Friday. This is a fabulous way to end our week, and allows us to maximise peak learning time in the morning. We hope lots of families will be able to arrive a bit earlier to collect their children on a Friday and join us for our Assembly.

Our first assembly will be on Friday, 7th February.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Rob
