Dear Parents and Friends,
Thanks to all parents who attended the Parent Teacher Meetings last night. These meetings provided parents with an opportunity to clarify any issues they may have had in regards to their child’s schooling and report. It also gives teachers an opportunity to communicate important information to parents. The education of your child is a partnership between school and home. Student learning outcomes are impacted by the strength of this partnership. If you have any concerns about your child’s progress or schooling, please see their teacher or myself.
The Faith and Social Justice team in Year 5/6 have organised a PJ/Oodie Day to raise funds for an orphanage in Congo. This will take place tomorrow. Students are given permission to wear oodies, pyjamas and slippers (runners and jackets for playtimes). They are asked to bring a donation. The donations brought to the school will go directly to an orphanage called Flames of Love in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

These are now available to parents via their PAM (Parent Access Module). Click on your child's photo, then click on Assessment reports on the left hand side.
Starting in Week 2 of Term 3, all children will be participating in the School Swimming Program being held at Monash Aquatic Centre in Glen Waverley which will go through until the last week of Term 3.
Please go to your PAM and give permission for your child/ren to attend if you have not done so already.
Children will need to bring a small backpack with bathers, towel and goggles in addition to their school bag. We suggest that students who are not in a one piece costume should wear bathers to school under their sports uniform.
If you would like to be a parent helper at the swimming, please make sure that the office has a copy of your WWCC and signed Child Safety Paperwork. Parent helpers must meet us at the pool. Please email office@scsyndal.catholic.edu.au if you are able to help.
Parents may come and watch from the stands, but unless you are registered to help, you cannot enter the swimming change rooms, even if it is to help your child. You also cannot take your child to the public changerooms as we need to account for all of the children all of the time whilst at the centre.
Children will return to school after the swimming lessons as there will be further classtime.
Yesterday a group of Prep students ventured to my office to share some of their persuasive writing. This invoved trying to persuade me to allow students to have more playtime. They had some excellent arguments and evidence. For example, during playtime students can have a brain break, get fit and make new friends. Well done to all the Preps for this writing activity.
Please note that our coloured House Polo tops will eventually be deleted once sold out at PSW. Some sizes are already sold out and PSW will not be ordering any more. If your child's size is not available from PSW, please purchase the relevant coloured polo top (without school logo) from another reatiler, e.g. K-mart, Target, etc.
Please see the Parents' Association Page in regards to the student Movie Night coming up tomorrow and the Sip and Paint evening next Term. Sick Students
If your child is absent from school, please use your PAM (Parent Access Module) to advise the school. This way the teacher and the office are both aware. Often if you tell or email the teacher, the office isn't aware and our records are not accurate. If you require help to access your PAM, please contact the school office.
In Music classes next week (Thursday June 27), students will have the opportunity to perform a piece of instrumental music they have been learning during private music lessons outside or at school ( with the Creative Music company). Please remind your child to bring their sheet music to school (if needed) and encourage them to take part.
Thanks for your support,
Fiona Markham
Music teacher.
If you would like your child to take part in a soccer program after school at St Christopher's, please see the attached flyer. This program will commence next Term.
Our assembly tomorrow will take place at 3pm in the hall. This will be a general assembly and include students of the week and the presentation of the newly elected Student Representative Council . All welcome.
If you have any concerns regarding your child's learning or well being, please contact their teacher or myself.
Enjoy the weekend!
