Relay for Life - Cancer Council

What an exciting last week few weeks of Term 2 this has been!  At our Secondary Assembly last week we were thrilled to announce the final figure raised for the Cancer Council. An astounding $23,740 was raised by the PVCC community at the Secondary Student Senate-run Relay for Life.

This achievement is a testament to our community's commitment towards actively stewarding the lives of those around us. Through the generous contribution for bake sales, head shaving donations, PVCC staff dunk tank donations as well as all food and ticket sales this incredible achievement has been reached. It is heartwarming to see our students learn the value of empathy and giving back to those in need.

The funds raised will go directly to supporting the Cancer Council's vital research, prevention programs, and support services for those affected by cancer.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated, donated, and supported this cause. Your kindness and generosity have made a significant impact and remind us of the power of living and walking in a Christ-like manner.

We pray this event will continue to encourage our community to actively steward the world around them.

Mission Awareness Trip updates

Two groups of courageous Year 10 students led by dedicated PVCC staff members set out on Mission Awareness Trips to Thailand and Vanuatu last weekend, where PVCC has longstanding relationships with organisations and communities. They have been busy in their first week acclimatising to these cultures, meeting community members in schools, churches and orphanages and building relationships.

They also began teaching in schools, serving the community in a variety of practical ways and sharing God’s love. As well as being a fantastic adventure, it is often a transformative experience for our students and one they are greatly blessed by. We look forward to hearing more details on their return. Please continue to pray for these teams and the communities they are in, particularly for their health and safety, energy levels and the impact they can make on the rest of the trips.

Arrowsmith visit

Debbie Gilmore, Executive Director of Arrowsmith, recently visited PVCC during her trip to Australia, spending time with students, staff and interested parents. Discussing the incredible adaptability of the human brain and how we can strengthen our cognitive capacities through a range of methods and programs, she was highly engaging and generous with her time in sharing her knowledge and experience. Past students and parents of students who have been part of the Arrowsmith program at PVCC also shared their stories and the benefits and impact of the program.
