It has been a bitter sweet week with celebrations of Mr Shaw and everything he has achieved at MPRPS and then to be wishing him well for his new role in the DE.

What a day we were gifted with yesterday at Bill Sewart Athletics Track in Burwood East! Congratulations to all our year 3-6 students on all their amazing efforts and hard work in all the athletics events across the day yesterday! Students hopped, skipped, jumped, shot putted, threw discuses and sprinted their way through 8 different events. The pride and care for each other was amazing to see! A fitting closing ceremony for the day saw Mr Shaw run his own little race through a student guard of honour.
A big thankyou to all our amazing teachers and ES staff for coordinating the students around all day and to our wonderful parents Amy M, Karry S, Justine W, Giridhar D, Meg C, Cecilia L, Tegan M, Kathryn W, Anna D for all their assistance in running the events. Without this parent commitment it would have been challenging to get through the day. I want to express our appreciation and acknowledge how giving up the day makes things run much smoother for our students.
A huge congratulations to Tom Mckinnon and the Wellbeing Team for all their passionate efforts to support the school community. Student have enjoyed the opportunity to finish the term wearing their pyjamas and bringing in their soft toy for the day. The team have managed to raise $365.50 today plus $100 from Nick McGowan. The money raised from this day will support the wellbeing boxes that the team will create for each class in the school. The boxes will include fidget tools, headphones, colouring books and other items to help students self-regulate in the classroom. We appreciate all your donations and support in helping this project come to life.
This year our year 6's put forward 4 different themes for our school disco. Students were then allowed to vote for their favourite theme. As we value student voice at MPRPS we will be having a junior theme and a senior theme.
Junior: Glow in the dark
Senior: Through the decades
The disco will be a gold coin donation to cover glow sticks and decorations.
We look forward to dancing the day away with everyone on the 9th of August.
This year NAIDOC Week will be held from 7th of July until 14th of July to recognise and celebrate the cultures, histories and beliefs of Aboriginal and Torrest Strait Islander peoples.
This year's theme is: Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud!
There are many events happening in Naarm (Melbourne) during NAIDOC week. Does your child enjoy crafting? In particular, making friendship or charm bracelets? You might like to check some of the events on offer out here.
