Around the rooms

A snapshot from the classrooms this fortnight

Kindergarten - Jacqueline Pribilovics

Last week Kindergarten went on their very first excursion to Sydney Zoo. They were so lucky to have the sun come out after all the rain.  Zoo Keeper Louie led them around the zoo and shared many interesting facts about all the animals. The students were so well behaved and asked very interesting questions. A special thank you the wonderful parent helpers who came along to assist on the day.

Year 2 - Aoife Geraghty

The year two students have been very busy with their information report writing lately. They have written reports about turtles, sharks, and even Spotted Handfish! They have enjoyed learning interesting facts and compiling them into reports. The year two students were also invited to kindergarten to showcase their work. They read their reports to the kindergarten students and answered any questions they had. Thanks for inviting us, Kindys!

Year 3 - Hannah Jory & Peter Mallos

These are our Year 3 Highlights for Term 2;

STEM

Dom - I enjoyed building the skatepark in STEM because it was engaging and I learnt new skills.

Henry - I had a great time in STEM this term because it was fun building miniature skateparks and having to think outside the box.

Anthony - The skateparks in STEM allowed me to show my creativity when designing obstacles.

Lucinda - This term building the skatepark was challenging as it was hard to get the different angles right.

Isla - My favourite thing about this term was STEM as I got to build our skateparks with my friends.

Anais - My highlight of this term was STEM building the skatepark as I enjoyed planning and building with my friends.

Cormac - It was exciting to explore shapes whilst building ramps in STEM.

Bradley - This term I enjoyed building the ramps in STEM because I got to be involved in the different processes of design and building.

Katelynn - I had fun learning and building with year 4 in STEM.

Eisteddfod

Gabby - This term performing in the eisteddfod was my highlight of the term.

Zoe - I loved doing the Bollywood dance for the eisteddfod as we got to dress up and dance.

Charlotte - This term I loved doing all the dances because we got to do something that we have never done before.

Interest Project

Elyse - This term I relished doing the Interest project and I could extend my learning.

Athletics carnival

Roshan - The athletics carnival was my highlight this term as I enjoyed running and challenging myself.

George - I loved being sporty at the Athletics carnivals this term.

Playground

Jack - This term playing with my friends at lunch time was my highlight because we got to learn the rules of handball.

Year 4 - Bella Abruzzese

To celebrate NAIDOC Week this year, Year 4 came together to create a poster which incorporates the most significant customs to Indigenous Australians, including the land, the protesting it took to get to where we are now, the native animals, storytelling and ‘Dreamtime’. Year 4 worked on different sections and came up with their own ideas to make this poster extra original and special.

Stage 3 - Anna Kelly & Laura Courtenay

In science year 5 and year 6 learnt about circuits and how they operated. For example, we got a light bulb, 2 wires and a battery. With these supplies each of us in pairs of 2 had to make the light bulb turn on. After this, we got to learn about a series and parallel circuit. One fact that I learnt was that the flow of electricity must start and finish at the same power source. Then ,we got to create a series and parallel circuit. We madea design where a circuit would be needed. Our design of a helicopter was successful and the light went through one of the sides and popped out to shine. When we were done Ms.Brooks gave us a challenge where we had to make the wing spins at the top by adding a fan.

Christian Hall Year 5

In science for the last 3-4 weeks we have been working on parallel and series circuits. We were set a task to create a structure that was worthy of having a circuit in it. For this challenge we had to have 3 possible designs and then chose 1 design to work on. My group  chose a cityscape with 1 building lighting up with the light from a series circuit. Some popular designs were a lighthouse, a drone and a car. This week we will showcase them to the rest of the school. It was a delightful activity and I can say on behalf of stage 3 that we enjoyed it.
