Vinnies Winter Appeal

Thank you to all the families in our StMM community and all the StMM parishoners too who contributed to this year's Vinnies Winter Appeal. The Pope Francis students together with Mrs Breen assisted to package and we created 62 toiletry packs (with seven items in each pack) to donate to St Vincent de Paul. We have been fortunate to also donate many bulk items that Vinnies will be able to use across the various outreach programs they coordinate. During our Winter Sleepout, the students and their parents and teachers also made three no sew blankets which were also collected by Vinnies last week

Vinnies Winter Sleepout

10 students and some parents joined on Friday 21st June for the 2024 Vinnies Winter Sleepout. We started with prayer, then Mary Croake from the St Vincent de Paul Randwick Conference, together with Janelle and Br David gave a short presentation to those present on homelessness. The students enjoyed a cup of noodle soup and bread roll for dinner, before embarking on creating three ’’no sew’’ blankets which were collected by St Vincent de Paul last week. For the last hour, the students were outside on the playground on cardboard boxes ‘sleeping out’ to simulate what it is like to be out in the cold. An enormous thank you to the teachers who participated and the parents who gave generously of their time on the evening. Thank you also to the anonymous donor who made a $211 donation towards the Vinnies Winter Appeal Randwick Conference.

Term 2 & Term 3 - In class SPaR’s - Hopeful Hearts

This term I have been fortunate to share with our students and some of our parent community an in class SPaR (Stop, Pray and Reflect). As you are aware, our Sydney Catholic Schools theme this year is “We journey together as joyful witnesses to hope”. “Those who hope in the Lord will run and not be weary” Isaiah 40:31. The SPaR is an opportunity to unpack that theme a little more through prayer, reflective music and reflection time as well as through visuals to make the topic come alive for participants. Following SPaR we have had the opportunity to create a sacramental craft - a Hopeful Heart.
