SAPSASA Netball

The SAPSASA District netball carnival is held annually, one of the biggest netball carnivals in the state for girls in Year 5 & 6. 

This year the Salisbury East District began with trials conducted over a 3-week period for team selection. Participating numbers were high this year with 55 girls trialling for 10 spots. GSPV were represented at the trials by 3 girls who showcased their netball skills on cold evenings at Greenwith. 

All 3 girls represented themselves and the school with exemplary attitudes, teamwork, and commitment. Two GSPV girls, Amber Bloffwitch and Aleah Getgood earnt selection in the Div 1 side and Amber Bloffwitch was selected as co-captain for 2024 carnival.

Following trial selection, the girls attended x3 training sessions before the start of the round robin carnival to be held at Netball SA, Mile End from Wednesday 19th June to Friday 21st June, 2024.

In 2024, the Salisbury East District would participate in the Metro Division1 grade against 9 other school districts. 

Players and parents dodged the predicted terrible weather, having an opportunity to play on the indoor and outdoor courts across the 3 days. The competition was tough, with many talented players in the Division 1 teams, and although the results weren’t favourable for the majority of games, the girls competed and played in great spirits, with terrific sportsmanship. A highlight moment was the thrilling last qtr. 2 goal come from behind win!

Salisbury East District finished in 9th overall, tied with Onkaparinga South. The 2024 winners Southern Valley & Airport were tied on points after an earlier round draw.   

Both girls played very well, continuing their development and knowledge as part of their netball pathway amongst some of the best netball talent the SA Districts have.

In between games, the girls bonded, formed friendships, enjoyed a lot of laughter, and created memories.

Merchandise was bought and overall, it was a FANTASTIC experience for them.
