Tess Haddock

Regional Cross Country

Congratulations to Ted C and Toby B for their outstanding performance in the Regional Cross Country! Although Sam B was unfortunately unable to compete due to illness, he also qualified for the event.

Ted C finished in 34th place and Toby finished in 64th place. It was an incredible achievement to qualify and complete another challenging 3km race. If you see them around, be sure to give them a well-deserved pat on the back!

Winter Lightning Premiership

Thank you to the amazing 5/6 students for their dedication and passion during the Winter Lightning Premiership. You were all awesome!

A special thanks to the St Brendan staff who accompanied and supported the students, and to the parents and grandparents who came down to cheer them on.

It was an incredible day, and some of the students have written a little recap of the event. Enjoy!

Overview of the Winter Lightning Premiership Written by the Students in Year 5/6

Soccer

Archie: On Wednesday the 12th of June everyone who chose to do soccer went to Ballam Park and competed in a fun and exciting competition. As soon as we got off the bus, we headed straight to the soccer fields where we set up and got ready for the day.

After the boys and I got ready and stretched, we headed over to the first soccer pitch where we played against Bayside Christian College. We played well and we won 2-0. After that, we played 7 other schools and did an excellent job winning 5 out of our 8 games. Then after a fun and tiring day of soccer, we went over to the announcement area where they told us how we did.

In first place for Division Two boys was Ballam Park Primary School.

Then for the division one boys St Brendan's came in first place. Everyone was so proud and happy that we won. Now we have a chance to make division and if we do, hopefully we can come in first place.

Tilly: On Wednesday the 12th of the 6 we went to Lightning Premiership. All of my team was there but Nicola was away, we didn't want her to come back and find out that we came last so we tried our best to impress. Throughout the morning we played 2 teams, we drew the first game and we won the second. Sienna scored 2 goals and we were so happy she is our team leader and the reason we came fifth.  We are so glad we placed on the chart even though we didn't make it to Division 1 or 2. We are still happy with everything that the team did. Even though we versed some teams that were a little bit mean and rough,  the rest were so nice some even said sorry when they stole the ball from me.

Jolie: On the 12 of June the 5\6’s went to Ballam Park to compete in the Lighting Premiership for Soccer, AFL and Netball. We played 7 tough games of AFL and won 4 games. Some of the kids who have never played before played so well.  The whole day was fun because all we did was play footy all day and had funny moments with friends and played as a team. It was finally time to go to the middle area to see who won. Sadly we did not win but still put in a lot of effort and represented St Brendan's Primary School. We had the best time ever!

Toby: The Winter Lightning Premiership was so good. Everyone participated and even though some kids didn't have experience with any of the sports they still gave it their best shot and played amazing. The footy team played 7 intense games and every team was fighting for first place and took their footy to the next level. But overall, the St Brendan's Team didn't come first or second, everyone had an amazing time and everyone was proud of their effort and representing the school.

Netball

On Wednesday, the netballers were put on a separate bus to everyone else as we drove off to Jubilee Park. The sound of Indi’s loud laugh calmed everyone's nerves. The rain started as soon as we hopped off the bus. Instantly, Ella fell on her butt and she got up like nothing happened. We all got our bibs on and said our goodbyes and good luck.

Ella: St Brendan’s Yellow

The first team, which I was in, versed Bayside Christian College’s girls team. I played GD (goal defence) but all of a sudden, Erienne threw the netball so hard, I still caught it and

my back bent all the way backwards but I didn’t fall. I threw it down the court and Evie caught it and passed it to Sienna and boom! We got a goal. I am very proud of my team for being undefeatable and winning. We won first place and are now going into division and hopefully we can win that too.🏆 (Ella)

Ellie: St Brendan’s Blue

One of the teams that my team versed was Frankston Heights. They were a really good team and we sadly lost. My team was trying their hardest to try and win, but unfortunately we lost by 1 or 2 goals. One of the other teams that we versed was Woodleigh. It was a draw, 1 to 1. In the middle of the game, I caught the ball and I went flying in the air! I landed on the floor with grazed hands and a sore butt. My team was doing their best with all of the games we played, but sadly, we lost all of our games. We weren’t going to the netball division but we were resilient & persevered. I am so proud of our team. (Ellie) 🏆
