Acting Principal's Report

Welcome to the final week of the term and what a jam packed term it has been. I would like to thank the community for their help and support throughout the term from PFC events, helping at special days, excursions, camps and just supporting your child/children to be amazing students.

Parent teacher interviews take place this week, please read your childs report before meeting your teacher. You can access reports via Compass.

A reminder that school will finish at 2:30pm on Friday for the beginning of the term break.

Mr Barren will be returning at the beginning of Term 3 and therefore will not be participating in the MND Ice Bucket challenge. However, we do have a number of staff willing to be iced and the more we raise the more staff we will have. Please keep those donations coming in.

Recently the Victorian Education Department made an announcement around the teaching of reading within Victorian Government schools.

This was due to the fact that 1 in 4 Victorian students cannot read proficiently. Victorian schools will be required to teach children in Prep to Year 2 how to read according to the best evidence on effective instruction.

The great news for students at LPPS is that we are already teaching reading using the most effective instruction. Our Prep to Year 2 learn structured synthetic phonics using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. Our students are achieving excellent results and are loving learning to both read and write.

We are very privileged to have an incredible supply of decodable readers thanks to the fund raising effort across the community led by the PFC.

Have a safe and happy term break.
