Rise Up Fund

As you may have read last week, our amazing Resilient Youth & Wellbeing student leaders have started a fundraising initiative 'Rise Up' which will see them run fundraising events throughout 2024, with all profits going into the Rise Up Fund, designed to help families who may need some short-term financial assistance to be able to pay for school events and experiences, ensuring no child misses out!

Last week, the student group held their first fundraising event with a snack stand at Twilight School, raising over $600 for the fund. We were so proud of their heart and hard work, and super grateful to our students and families for supporting the fundraiser.

The students are planning another fundraiser for the last day of Term 2 with a PJ Party, inviting all students to come to school dressed in their PJs for a gold coin donation. The student leaders will visit classrooms across the morning to collect donations. They will also be selling hot chocolate ($2) and cookies ($3) at lunch time from the canteen.

So dust off the onesies, prepare to get cosy for the last day, and start collecting those gold coins for a good cause.... because together we rise!

Student & Parent Diversity Ambassadors Program

Don't forget.....

YOU could be our next Diversity Ambassador!!!

Thanks to a generous grant from the organisation, Together for Humanity, of which we were a lucky recipient, we are super excited to start our own Student & Parent Diversity Ambassadors Program.

The program will see us form a committee of students and parents who represent and advocate for the different diverse groups within our school community, working with their identified community to increase engagement, voice and representation. The committee members will work together to create a shared understanding of - and between - the many diverse communities at Sunshine Heights Primary.

Interested parents and students can complete an expression of interest form, which the 'Together for Humanity' action team of staff will review, shortlist and interview.

The chosen ambassadors will be offered training to help them co-design with their communities to develop initiatives, ideas and processes that help support understanding and awareness of the many ways we are diverse at Sunshine Heights Primary School and to promote empathy, connection and belonging.

If you are passionate about social impact and helping share the voices and stories of your identified community to create a positive impact at Sunshine Heights Primary School, we are searching for diversity ambassadors from ALL diversities (cultural, social, gender, sexuality, religious, disability, racial, mental health, age +++).

If this sounds like something you or your child would be interested in, please complete an expression of interest form HERE

Happy Space Allied Health Speech Pathology Program

Our partnership with Happy Space Allied Health has been so amazing and having Liv onsite to support our students (and staff) has been so insightful and useful.

Liv works at our school every Thursday and is now at capacity with the number of students she can see. But... in exciting news... she is keen to increase her days to 2 days every week, so if your child has NDIS and you are looking for a speech pathologist to support them with their communication and social goals and would love your child to attend onsite speech pathology sessions, please reach out to me to let me know what support your child needs and I can connect you with Liv!

Happy Space Allied Health Occupational Therapy Program

After the success of our school-based Speech Pathology program, Sunshine Heights Primary School is once again partnering with Happy Space Allied Health to provide our very first school-based Occupational Therapy (OT) program. If you have NDIS funding, are looking for an incredible occupational therapist to help develop your child's daily living skills and interested in participating in our school-based OT service, please complete this form on the link below to express your interest.
