Letter to Family and Friends

Dear Pilgrim Families,

In everything we do at Pilgrim School, there is a deep desire for us all to flourish. To flourish means more than just growing; it embodies a journey of healthy and vigorous development nurtured by a supportive environment. This term has been a testament to the flourishing of our students in a myriad of ways; reflecting the compassion, thoughtfulness, and skill of our whole staff team. They are committed to engaging and encouraging children in our community every single day.

Central to our flourishing this term has been the integration of our Friendology program. This initiative has fostered deep connections and understanding among our students, laying a foundation for meaningful relationships that contribute to their overall well-being. Moreover, the establishment of our Friendship Garden has provided tangible spaces where students can nurture not only plants, but also friendships, learning invaluable lessons about care and responsibility.

Another highlight has been the outstanding performance of our school choir at the Choral Eisteddfod. Their dedication and talent were evident as they highlighted their musical prowess, bringing joy and pride to our entire community. This is a testament to the hard work and commitment of both students and teachers alike.

During the winter months, our staff have gone above and beyond by organising engaging opportunities for recess and lunchtime activities. From cooking and knitting to painting and learning new songs, these activities have provided space for children to explore their interests, discover hidden talents, and importantly, build confidence.

As we conclude this school term with our much-anticipated school-wide musical, The Peace Child, we celebrate the culmination of months of hard work, creativity, and teamwork. Our resolute staff have tirelessly coached and guided our young performers, resulting in a vibrant and captivating production that truly shines a spotlight on the talents and achievements of our students. I think this is such a wonderful, tangible way to see flourishing occur. It is a bit like those new seeds that have been planted in our Friendship Garden. Students have prepared the soil, planted the seeds, watered, weeded, and protected the new seedlings as they have emerged. This is an investment and effort that can be onerous and challenging for many. Then... when the time is right, there is a time to harvest and gather what has been nurtured and to celebrate the result with others. This is what we have done this week with our school musical.

Please find time to say something positive to encourage and build up your child for their participation and contribution in sharing the musical production with our community. For some this is such an overwhelming task they have worked to conquer, and for others their passion and love for performance is straightforward. If you had others come with you to watch, please encourage them to affirm and build up your child too for their hard work.

Flourishing at Pilgrim School is not just about external accomplishments; it is about nurturing the internal growth of each individual. It is about encouraging curiosity, resilience, and a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. Together, we diligently work to create an environment where students can thrive emotionally, academically, physically, socially, and spiritually.

With gratitude,
