Sacred Heart Swimming Program

This week will be the last swimming lesson for our Year 1 and 2 students. A big thank you to all the parents who have helped with walking the students to Heather’s Swim School each week. We appreciate your help.

Our Year 3 students will have their final lesson next week (due to the fact they missed a lesson because of NAPLAN). Thanks you also to the parents who assisted with the Year 3 swimming program. Well done to all involved.

A big thank you to Heather and her swimming instructors who have worked hard each week to improve the swimming skills of our students at Sacred Heart. Thanks also to the teachers who have supported the swimming program.

 

Colac Division Soccer

Good luck to the following boys who will compete in the Greater Western Regional event this Thursday 20th June at Wendouree West Recreation Reserve, Wendouree West; Dash Bannan, Roy Scott, Joseph Coventry, Zaiden Finn, Hudson Oborne, Tjay Moynihan, Max Mitchell, Thor Medley, Bodhi Baker, Kade Genua, Finley Geary and Saxon Finn. A big thank you to David Coventry and Tyson Finn who are coaching the boys on the day.

The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 7:50am SHARP and return at approximately 4:00pm. More details on PAM.

Colac Division Football Lightning Premiership

Congratulations to our two Sacred Heart teams who competed in the Colac Division Football Championships last Friday at the Colac Central Reserve. Both teams made the finals but the overall winner was Sacred Heart Black. This team will now compete at the Greater Western Football Championships on Wednesday 26th June at Gordon Street Recreation Reserve in Ararat. More information will be sent out via PAM.

Well done to coaches Tom Rieniets and Jeremy Richardson. A big thank you to umpires Fred Melville, Jesse McCarthy, Jack Fay, Percy Hanson, Izaac Tate and Reagan Oborne. They were fantastic on the day. Thanks also to the parents/grandparents who supported the day.

Colac Division Netball Lightning Premiership

Well done to the four Sacred Heart netball teams who competed in the Colac Division Netball Championships last Friday at Colac Eastern Reserve Netball Courts. All teams did very well on the day. Sacred Heart Black were the winners of Division One and we also won the Division 3 competition. Sacred Heart Black will now compete at the Greater Western Regional Netball Championships this Friday at Colac Eastern Reserve. We wish the girls all the best in this competition.

The Sacred Heart Boys netball team qualified for this event earlier in the year and will also be competing at the Greater Western Regional Netball Championships this Friday at Colac Eastern Reserve. We wish both teams all the best at this competition.

Geelong Cats Visit

This Wednesday the AFLW Geelong Cats players will be visiting our school as part of their Community Camp. Our Year 3 students will have their Question and Answers session for 1:45pm – 2:20pm and our Year 4 students will have their Question and Answers session from 2:25pm – 3:00pm. 

Students in these year levels are invited to bring/wear their Cats football jumpers, hats, caps, scarves and football cards to have them signed by the players. 

Also, as part of the Community Camp there is an All Girls Auskick and Superkick 

Super clinic taking place at Central Reserve from 4:15pm (see attached flyer on the Community page).

Sports Stars of the Week

Name: Jemma Howat (Yr 6LG) 

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are tennis, netball, football and cricket.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? Tennis is my favourite sport.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Tennis is my favourite sport to play because it has no contact and most of my family plays it.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I won the 12 and Under Tennis doubles.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport are my runnning speed and aligity. I also have good reflexes and arm strength.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and I love to exercise.

7. Who is your favourite sports person?  My favourite sports person is Novak Djokovic from Serbia.

8. Why are they your favourite?  He is my favourite player because he is number one in the world and he is a good and fair tennis player. 

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach would describe me as a good role model and team player.

 

Name: Asha McNaughton (Yr 5JT) 

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball, basketball and cricket.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is netball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Netball is my favourite sport because I love the game and I am really good at GA (Goal Attack).

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I was asked to play netball with the age group above me.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport are my height and accuracy when shooting goals.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it keeps me fit and it makes me feel happy.

7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is netballer Zara Walters.

8. Why are they your favourite? Zara is my favourite netball player because she is going to play for the Vixens and she is from Colac.

9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Vixens netball team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a fast runner and that I am a good goalie and a good defender.

 

Name: Felix Dare (Yr 5RO) 

1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are basketball, football, cricket, tennis and badminton.

2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is basketball.

3. Why is this your favourite sport? Basketball is my favourite sport because it is a challenging game.

4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest moment in sport was when I won ‘age group champion’ back to back.

5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my hand/eye co-ordination. I am fast and strong and I am good at following the rules.

6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing lots of different sports because they are fun.

7. Who is your favourite sports person?  My favourite sports person is Shaquille O’Neal.

8. Why are they your favourite?  He was my favourite basketball at the Los Angeles Lakers because he was very dominant in the sport.

9. What is your favourite sporting team?  My favourite is my basketbal team.

10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am always happy to participate. That I always try my best and I am a team player
