Principal's Update

THE RESILIENCE PROJECT:

As part of our Resilience Project our students completed a Resilient Youth Survey:

The Ready to Learn Score indicated that 39% of our students feel they are coming to school ready to learn.

How can we help our young people to feel ready for the day?

Take the opportunity in the holidays to re set the morning routines.

Check in regarding sleep - look the chart below for some handy tips and great habits to get into. The statistics in the chart are from The Resilience Project Australia wide.

STOMP: How amazing are all your children! The STOMP Performance was just brilliant. Did you know that over the10 weeks each student learnt 8 different dances, then each group chose their 2 favourites to perform last Thursday.

The finale was just brilliant with everyone involved!

Downball - Downball Australia had a very successful day at WMPS last week. Students were taught the traditional game of downball and then competitions were held within the class. Each student received a ball and teachers made sure they were all named. It has been great to see lots of games being played at recess and lunch.

Working Bee

Many thanks to the following families (Ternes, Brown, Raptis and Coles and Mandy Dennehy) who came to help at the recent Working Bee on Sunday afternoon. We stained the Gagapit and also resprayed the coloured squares for Downball - they all look great!

Thanks for co-ordinating Clare!

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program: (SAKGP)

I have been lucky enough to drop into our grade 3/4 SAKGP around lunchtime on a number of days. Mandy Dennehy and Di Fuller are to be congratulated on the way they run these sessions - students are learning vital life skills both in the kitchen and in the garden. I just love the way the whole cohort comes together to sit and eat the lunch that the students have prepared.

Grade 5 and 6 students should be getting very excited for their turn in Semester 2.

Helpers needed - Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.

We are looking for volunteers to help next semester with the Year 5/6 students. If you are free on Tuesdays between 11.30am and 1.30pm, please join us in the garden or kitchen. You just need a current Working with Children Check. Volunteer WWCC's are free. You do not need to have a child in the Y5/6 cohort.
