Dear St Mary’s community,
I wish to extend a special congratulations to those students who received their First Eucharist recently. It was a very special occasion for the students and their families to celebrate. We offer you our heartfelt prayers as you continue this journey as communicants in the Church.
A special thank you to Mrs McDonald for preparing the students so carefully and to Father Jerome for helping to prepare the students for their Sacraments.
God bless, Mrs Mensen
Liturgy Group
Thank you to the Liturgy group who have now contributed to events on Friday Whole School Masses as well as to their younger siblings at the First Eucharist event. We are so proud to have such mature and reverent leaders of prayer among our students who have worked very hard to show this in how they move and work in the Church. Our Liturgy group now invites our year 4 students who have received their First Eucharist to join the group for future school Masses and prayer events.
Choir - Leading Church Music
There are many ways to lead prayer at school - singing is one of them! Our choir did a fantastic job at the Mass for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday. We are very blessed to have a group of 30 voices who turn up each week to learn songs of all sorts and in the midst of preparing for a competition to also find the time to learn the hymns for Mass. Thank you to our young singers.
Social Justice Project - Letters to East Timor
Heather works with students in Remexio, Timor-Leste to help the community in East Timor to rebuild after difficult times. After assembly a few weeks ago we have now begun our letter-writing project to help these students learn better English reading and writing skills. We look forward to sending the letters to Remexio next week!
June is the Month of the Sacred Heart
During this month of June, we do our best to emulate Jesus. In His words and actions, showing merciful love to our neighbour. As part of this is the Letter Writing Project above but also we show this when we go to school by taking up friendships, being invitational, and by showing love to those around us in our daily interactions.
Read about Why June is the month of the Sacred Heart here.
Below are some prayers you might like to use in your homes to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
O most holy heart of Jesus,
fountain of every blessing,
I adore you, I love you,
and with lively sorrow for my sins,
I offer you this poor heart of mine.
Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to your will.
Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in you and for you.
Protect me in the midst of danger.
Comfort me in my afflictions.
Give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs,
your blessing on all that I do,
and the grace of a holy death. Amen.
Children’s Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I love You so much
and I give You my heart.
Help me to love God.
Help me to love my neighbor
as a child of God.
Help me to love myself
as a child of God.
Amen
