What's Happening

ATTENDANCE

We are striving to embed “Learning Starts at Nine” across our whole school every single day. The first bell goes at 8:55am enabling students to enter their classrooms, unpack their bags and get ready for their day of learning. CPS students have transitioned to this routine really well and it is a pleasure to see them prepare for the day. Building routines such as this, helps students feel secure and know what to expect at school. Thank you to all families for ensuring their child/ren arrive at school in plenty of time to start their day.

Students who arrive after the 9am bell are required to sign in late on the Compass portal in the office area, as exterior gates will be locked.

Our target is to have every student at school in class by 9am every day. We have noticed a slight decline in the number of students arriving late. Thank you to all parents and carers for your efforts. Together we can make a difference.

BIGGEST MORNING TEA WRAP UP

Carnegie Primary School's Biggest Morning Tea was a HUGE success. We helped raise $2101.60 - that's over $400 more than last year!

This would not have been possible without our fabulous CPS community. Many thanks to everyone who participated in any way.

Every $ raised goes directly to the Cancer Council to fund much needed research.

Thank you again and see you next year!

STUDENT EXCELLENCE AWARD

As part of the Student Excellence Program, select students in year 3 and 4 participated in an online writing workshop with a highly acclaimed author and illustrator, Anna Zobel.

Anna Zobel is an illustrator, writer and teacher from Melbourne. As a child, Anna wrote and illustrated her own books, and she hasn’t stopped since. Anna is inspired — and occasionally infected — by the children she works with, and hopes to represent them in her work.

This is Annabel M 4B's recount of the day.

Last Friday on the 14th June, some of our year 3 and 4 students got the opportunity to do a writing workshop with Anna Zobel. Anna showed and talked about some of her books she has written and illustrated. My favourite activity was writing a mystery about the State Library. Overall, we did 100 minutes of writing and illustrating. I'm sure everyone enjoyed it.

Our lost property tub near the office is beyond full at the moment, mostly with jackets. Please come by and check if your child/ren have lost an item. Thank you!
