Halfway Heroes: Big Ideas Ahead

We’ve officially reached the halfway point, and what a journey it has been. The Passion Project pilot program has been steadily taking shape, growing week by week as students dive deeper into their ideas. What started as a spark of curiosity has turned into a vibrant collection of projects driven by imagination, persistence, and genuine enthusiasm. All students brought something unique to the table, and the energy they bring each week has made the room buzz with creativity. Watching them plan, experiment, problem‑solve, and refine their ideas has been incredibly rewarding, and it’s clear how much pride they take in their work.

The variety of topics alone shows just how wide their interests stretch.

Each student has been putting in thoughtful effort, asking questions, testing ideas, and celebrating small wins along the way. The progress so far has been nothing short of impressive, and as we look ahead to the second half of the pilot program there’s a real sense of excitement about what these projects will become. Every student has been doing a fabulous job, and the pride felt across the group is absolutely deserved.

Congratulations to all our Year 5 students who completed the online NAPLAN writing test. When the system unexpectedly crashed, they showed remarkable perseverance, staying calm, patient, and focused while waiting to log back in. We are incredibly proud of the way they handled the disruption with maturity and leadership. Well done to every student for their resilience and positive attitude.

Word Of The Week! -

Persistence means keeping going and trying your best even when things feel hard, when you’re tired, struggling, or unsure. In Cross Country, you might get a stitch or feel out of energy, but you don’t give up. You use your training and push through to the finish line. That’s persistence.

For students doing NAPLAN, if a question seems difficult, it’s okay. You can show persistence by flagging it and coming back later. Don’t let yourself get stuck, keep moving forward. The more you try, the closer you get to the light at the top.

★ Find out what feels or is wrong, and try to fix it in a logical way

★ Know what you want, know how to achieve it, and go for it!

★ When times feel bad, or when you’re feeling stuck, be brave and chase the challenge!
