In the spirit of Lent and fundraising for Caritas, the Enviro team will be providing a school lunch order in Week 9, Thursday 26 March.  Students will receive a lunch order bag from school to place your child's order and pay.

Lunch orders and payments will need to be paid by Monday 23 March.  The Wirrap class in 3/4 will be supporting the lunch order cooking.

Gospel Reading – Gospel of John 9:1–41

As Jesus walks along, he sees a man who has been blind since birth. His disciples ask why the man is blind. Jesus explains that the man’s blindness is not a punishment. Instead, it will show God’s work. Jesus makes mud, puts it on the man’s eyes, and tells him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. When the man washes, he can see.

People are amazed and begin asking questions. The religious leaders investigate the healing. Some refuse to believe that Jesus could come from God because the healing happened on the Sabbath. They question the man and his parents many times. Even though the man is pressured, he tells the truth about what happened. In the end, the leaders throw him out.

Later, Jesus finds the man again and reveals that he is the Son of Man. The man believes in Jesus and worships him. Jesus explains that he came so that those who cannot see may see, and those who think they can see may realise they are blind.

Key Messages Linked to Lent Season

1. Jesus brings light into darkness

Lent is a time when we ask Jesus to open our eyes. Just as the blind man received sight, we ask Jesus to help us see what is right and good in our lives.

2. Faith sometimes requires courage

The man who was healed stayed honest about Jesus, even when others doubted him. During Lent, we are invited to stand strong in our faith and choose what is right.

3. True blindness can be in the heart

The religious leaders could see with their eyes but refused to believe. Lent invites us to look honestly at ourselves and be open to God changing our hearts.

Reflection Questions

  1. Where might Jesus be inviting me to see things more clearly in my life this Lent?
  2. How can I show courage in living out my faith this week?

Prayer

Loving God,

You are the light that helps us see the truth.

Open our eyes and our hearts during this season of Lent.

Help us to notice your work in our lives and to follow Jesus with courage.

Teach us to choose what is right and to trust in you each day.

Amen.

Caritas Water Bucket Challenge

Each day St Peter's students and staff will be walking as part of our normal routine. However there will be a difference. Each day a unit will be in charge of carrying a bucket of water. The bucket of water represents those communities who do not have access to clean water from their homes who need to walk each day just to have access to it. Caritas has some great resources on it's website that you can access at home  Sisilia's story | Caritas Australia
