Assistant Principal's report

Dear families,
Thank you for your continued support of our amazing school and incredible teachers throughout Term 1.
At EPS, we strongly believe that wellbeing is everyone’s responsibility. It is not a stand-alone department or the work of individuals in isolation, but a whole-school approach embedded in everything we do.
Listening to Student Voice
Below is a summary of our Term 1 survey. These results are analysed and shared with all teams to identify trends, celebrate strengths and respond to any areas of concern.
This information directly informs our planning for Term 2 wellbeing lessons, ensuring that our approach remains responsive and aligned to student needs.
Partnering with Families
This term, we held two parent/carer webinars:
- Inform and Empower
Vanessa Hamilton – Sexuality and Consent Education
We believe it is important to provide families with opportunities to build knowledge and confidence in supporting their children. These sessions reflect our commitment to Child Safe Standard 4, ensuring that families and the wider community are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Term 2 Wellbeing Focus
Our gratitude focus for Term 2 is “Be Proud”, encouraging students to recognise and celebrate their achievements. This is equally important for staff, and Michael and I always appreciate families taking the time to acknowledge the work of our team.
Our overall wellbeing theme will be: Strategies to Cope and Thrive – Growth Mindset
Students will also engage in Respectful Relationships lessons focusing on:
- Problem Solving
Help Seeking
These lessons are curriculum-aligned and grounded in evidence-based practice.
Parent/Carer Connection Group
While our Parent/Carer Connection Group has not yet secured a guest speaker for Term 2, we welcome any suggestions from our community. If you know someone who could present on a wellbeing-related topic, please reach out.
Last year, we hosted sessions on:
- Sensory regulation
- School avoidance
We are keen to continue providing valuable opportunities for families.
Celebrating Neurodiversity Week
We are also very excited to be celebrating Neurodiversity Week in Term 2. This will be the first time EPS has marked this important event, and we look forward to building awareness, understanding and appreciation of the diverse ways our students learn and experience the world.
Thank you again for your ongoing support.
Leanne
