Mrs Bec Campey and Mrs Emily Reed

Counselling and Psychological Services

As part of supporting the students at Kinross Wolaroi School, Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) are available for all students as an additional level of support.

Who are the School Psychologists?

Emily Reed (ereed@kws.nsw.edu.au) and Bec Campey (rcampey@kws.nsw.edu.au) are Registered Psychologists with training and experience in child and adolescent mental health. They work across the Junior and Senior Schools, and support students in their allocated year groups (see below):

What does the CAPS team do?

The School Psychologists assist students with a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Worries or anxiety
  • Low mood or depression
  • Emotional regulation difficulties
  • Friendship or peer issues
  • Family problems
  • School-related concerns (e.g. exam stress, concentration, learning)
  • Grief and loss
  • Stress
  • Social skills
  • Difficulties sleeping

The psychologists work collaboratively and confidentially with students to support wellbeing and learning. CAPS can also assist students in accessing external services, arranging learning adjustments, or organise assessment when needed. All practice aligns with the Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of Conduct (Psychology Board of Australia - Code of Conduct).

How to access CAPS support

In most cases, the first point of contact for support is your child’s Classroom Teacher (Junior School), or Head Mentor (Senior School), who can help initiate a CAPS referral.

Parents and carers may also contact Emily or Bec directly during school hours by phone (6392 0300) or email (ereed@kws.nsw.edu.au or rcampey@kws.nsw.edu.au).

Senior School students can make a self-referral via the Hub, email, or can arrange appointments in person.

The School Psychologists are located in the Student Support Suite, on the first floor of the Anderson Centre.

After a referral is made, Emily or Bec will contact you to discuss concerns, gather background information, outline consent requirements and determine the most appropriate support options.

Out-of-hours support

If support is needed outside school hours, families can speak with their GP or call 000 in emergencies. The NSW Mental Health Line (1800 011 511) is available 24/7 for advice, service connections and risk assessments. Additional support lines are listed below:

External psychology services

We understand that some students may prefer to access support outside the school setting. The School's psychologists can assist families in connecting with suitable external providers. If you would like information about external supports, please contact us, and we would be happy to assist.
